Great location in a safe & quiet area
Coming from abroad to London, it's a very practical and nice place to stay. From Heathrow airport, if you take the Heathrow Express train its's 15 minutes to the London central Paddington station. From there, if you are not traveling alone, definitely take a taxi. Costs you cheaper or the same. For us, it was less than 10¿¿. About a 10 minute drive to the hotel. Near the hotel there is a bus stop for lines C2, 88 and 453 that go directly to Regent street, Picadilly Circus and Victoria (Buckingham Palace). There is also the tube station Great Portland Street nearby so it's very practical for tourists to travel around. There are 2 nice local pubs nearby a Pizza Express and Pret a Manger ( a health fast food). Cafes as well as 2 convenient stores open 24hrs. The hotel is clean and very classical English style furnished. Good but expensive breakfast in a very beautiful breakfast room. The toilet did not flush very well but was not broken. They had a hairdryer in the room and no mini bar. They had shower caps, shower gel, soap, 2 glasses, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner as well. Room was also quiet. We had room 206. Street side but it was not noisy at all. It's a nice and quiet area. You can even walk to the center direction Oxford and picadilly. So if you are a tourist, it's really great to stay here. The receptionist was not so friendly (did not smile) but was polite and did her job ok. She was not particularly helpful or kind. So so I would say but the cleaning staff and the staff at breakfast were very kind and friendly.

Convenient for Euston and West End
I booked by phoning the hotel, and I found the receptionist to be very friendly and helpful. I told him that I needed a quiet room, and he reserved a room on the 4th floor at the rear of the hotel. When I arrived at 2.15pm I was told that this room had not been cleaned, but the receptionist gave me an alternative room on the 4th floor at the rear of the hotel. This room was next to the lift, and although the lift mechanism was audible, it wasn't really a problem. My room had been recently refurbished to a very high standard and was spotlessly clean. The breakfast waiters were friendly and attentive. I was pleased to find four different types of smoked fish on the cold buffet, but disappointed to find that the yoghurts all contained artificial sweeteners.

Beware of what lurks beneath!
Firstly, it should be noted that this is a good hotel. The staff are friendly and professional, the rooms and surroundings are comfortable and it is located very close to transport and parking, which is a big bonus in central London. There are a few things to be aware of however. Price-wise, it's what you'd expect - good business rates, but breakfast and food is incredibly expensive (even for central London!) and I couldn't help but get jealous of the Holiday Inn guests over the road who normally have breakfast included. There are plenty of places to eat nearby though, which is good. The one thing which lets this hotel down is something which it can do absolutely nothing about. And that's the tube. The Hammersmith and City, Circle and Metropolitan lines run literally right beneath this hotel. Now I have stayed in many, many central London hotels and others must suffer with this problem too, but I've never experienced it like I have at the Fitzrovia. From 6am until midnight, there is a rumble from below followed by the sound of wheels crossing tracks, making the whole room shudder (I was on the 2nd floor too, the 1st floor must have been horrendous!). I'm a light sleeper, and the tube woke me up on several occasions. The room was very well insulated, and there was no road noise from outside - but there didn't need to be!I'd probably stay here again if I had to, but I'd be dreading it!

What can i say 10 mins walk from palladium, in the hart of town set back from main road , food places all around you ,super clean ,super staff , i could just go on and on,You can park outside the hotel for free on sunday ,Ncp car park 2 mins from hotel.We were very pleased

Old world charm ... Modern amenities.
In the heart of the west end with 2 tube stations within easy walking distance. Rooms old world charm but with all modern amenities ... Hairdryer, tea facilities , flat screen Tv, nice bathroom and selection of toiletries. Room service menu was good although I didn't try dinner. Breakfast selection was good but would recommend eating I the restaurant as I ordered mine for my room and it was cold and indelible which was a shame as everything else in the hotel was good.
