Beautiful hotel and grounds
Impressive lobby and crisp service made a great first impression. Great location and an easy walk through a beautiful park to get to town and sites. Unfortunately our third floor room was grim and dated with a very uncomfortable bed, the mattress was clearly shot. Bathroom was better and our friends on the garden level had a much nicer room than our's on the third floor. A lot of charges that add up on check out but food was fair to good and staff was helpful, letting us eat from the room service menu and delivering the food to us in the common area. I would stay again if I could get one of the nicer garden level rooms.

Good place to stay
Came here for a two night stay in feb 2012 the hotel staff were very helpfull and the rooms were very nice and clean. It is a good location but there is still a faily long walk into the center of bath but i would still stay here if i came back it was very comfotable and well looked after.

Very good in parts
Parts of the service at the hotel were very good - the concierge staff were excellent and the reception staff were helpful and pleasant. The room was fairly good and was comfortable and quiet but could have done with a bit of maintenance - shaver point not working, soap holder cracked and inexpertly repaired with silicon gel. The food in the restaurant was generally good and some starters and mains were excellent but there were some strange hiatuses at odd times - waiting 30 minutes for a pudding that must have been prepared several hours previously (lemon tart) so only needed putting on a plate and a long wait for the pot of tea at the start of the breakfast. The restaurant staff were exceptionally good at losing half full bottles of wine between evening meals - they managed to do this on consecutive nights. The restaurant staff were very pleasant and helpful.This hotel could easily achieve 4 blobs with only a little extra effort.

Very relaxing - lovely ambience and great staff
We stayed just for one night but had the chance to not only experience all that Bath has to offer within a 10 min walk and also everything the hotel has to offer - great dining, lovely spa and outdoor pool and above all helpful and v friendly staff - especially the spa manager and Olivia on the front desk - thank you we had a great time !

Fantastic staff but under staffed
This is a beautiful and historic property but it needs some TLC as its fading a bit. Every member of staff we met was wonderful and attentive however it became clear to us that they were pulling double duty. We were unable to be served light food outside at 7PM as they had too many guests in the restaurant which we were unable to get a table at as it was full. Oddly enough one of my biggest disappointments was the fact that the silver tea service brought out to us had clearly not been polished in years. In fact it was terribly tarnished and dirty. Seems petty but...Location is wonderful with a short walk to all of Bath's amazing attractions. We couldn't work the heating system so ended up being cold all night. All that said we loved the property and the staff and hope very much that management will increase staff levels, improve its eye for the little details and that this lovely hotel will thrive. We would go back.
