CIE 9 day Scottish Dream nights 4 and 5
Arrived at this nice hotel after a stop at a Whisky distillery. Check in very quick. Bags arrived at our door in 10 minutes. Large room with love seat and chair reading area overlooking well maintained grounds. Enough light by bed t o read. Free Wifi worked well. Obtain password when checking in. Bathroom well equipped but needed a paint job on the door and trim and the wood on the wall that covered he side of the tub. Beautiful fitness center and spa. 2 bars very nice but quite expensive. Hotel quite remote. A group did take a cab into Aberdeen before dinner. It was nice we had 2 nights here and didn't have to have our luggage out the first morning 1 hour prior to departure.Group dinner was adequate but offerings quite limited. Buffet breakfast was nice and kept fresh. Hotel tried to please our group (CIE Tours has a strict quality control department). Would stay again.

Wonderful hotel!
We stayed here as a group of three couples and had an absolutely wonderful stay at Ardoe. The room was large and the bed probably one of The comfiest if not the comfiest hotel Beds I've ever stayed in. Lovely Arrran Aromatics toiletries in bathroom too. Came back after swim to a slate plate with lovely chocolates on it! Lots of nice little touches throughout our stay too.The food was delicious, presented very well. We ate and drank in Soapies during the day and the sandwiches were huge and very tasty. The meal in the restaurant was outstanding. We were there for over three hours enjoying 6 lovely courses and wine. All very high quality and lots of choice.All the staff were very friendly and attentive.The pool was a nice size for a hotel pool. And a sauna, jacuzzi and steam room too - lovely!I will definitely be returning and already recommending it to all my friends and family. Superb location, just across road from Paul lawrie golf course wnd driving range.The hotel is beautifully done up inside and very well run.We will be back soon!

nice location and classic 'big house' , but ...
... food was terrible. One menu shared by bar and restaurant, one step above pub grub.Room, in old part of house was nice. Service, at front desk and bar was great. Again, food was way below expectations. Overall, very overpriced 250+ / night

Poor for the price or any other price
This hotel looks good on the pictures as you only see the old part however the rooms are all in a soulless block house motel tacked on the side. I spent ¿¿209/night for this and to say the room was poor is an understatement. Ancient 70's style funiture that your mum would have thrown out, chipped and scratched poorly painted marked walls and old fashion bathroom with tired fittings throughout. I have also never seen so few TV channels on freeview available with sky sports only on in the tiny bar area that is like an entry into the cheaper resturant.The food was poor and massively over priced as they know there is no where near as an alternative I ordered a cheese salad sandwich (¿¿7.50!) a trained monkey could have made it better with salad consisting of 5 pieces of rocket and they forgot my chips (¿¿5 - thats a ¿¿1 a chip!)and only brought them at the end!The main fault with this place is it is miles out of Aberdeen if its busy it can take 40mins plus to get to the centre.Be aware that the room doors have to be slammed to shut and should be checked as they do not self close - I saw lots that were partially open a theives heaven becasue of this in the early morning you get woken with people slamming doorsAll that and charging ¿¿209/night is an insult (and they overcharged me - I spent hours trying to sort that) I wont be back!!!

Function at Ardoe
Recently attended a function at Ardoe House. Have not been there for many years and I must say I was very impressed.The food and service were top class - attention to detail was outstanding. The menu looked very simplistic at first glance and yet was really wonderfully presented.My only complaint was on visiting the facilities there were bundles of paper towels spilling out everywhere and the bathroom looked a mess. Not the fault of the attendees as attempting to pull one out of the bundle was impossible as they did not tear easily. Surely some sort of dispenser would be preferable and the bathroom would then not look so messy.Only a minor gripe on an otherwise impressive visit. Went for a function but with food this good will be back for a personal visit in the near future.
