Champagne afternoon tea
Had booked this as a christmas present for my mother in law. We had a great experience on Sat 8th June from start to finish. The welcome was very polite and friendly, although we had arrived 30minutes earlier than expected our table was ready and it was no problem whatsoever. Helen our waitress was very friendly and made my mother in law feel quite special by chatting to her and joking with her in a very comfortable manner she really made her day! The champagne and food was delicious and we were not rushed in any way. When it was time to leave Helen walked my mum in law to the door rounding off her treat just perfectly. For anyone wanting to have a special day out this has to be recommended . Meg

Top notch experience
We had an outstanding experience at The Balmoral. The spa, restaurant and tea service were all lovely. Excellent concierge service. Our room was on the small side but very lovely - I'd go back n a heartbeat.

Great location, great service
This is a very good hotel in a fabulous location.The room, the bar, the service and the ambience were all great.We only had breakfast (which was yum!) so can't comment too much on the food.Highly recommended.

Things That Need Improvement
Okay, we tried. We could find anything lacking during our three night stay. Loved our Classic Suite - spacious, charming, well appointed, fabulous bathroom with heated floor. Good closet/storage space, immaculate housekeeping. Comfortable furniture, complimentary fruit/chocolates/cookies (replaced during a three night stay). Prompt, excellent room service. Excellent facial at the Spa - ask for Jenn.We found the concierge desk to be beyond accommodating. We inquired about the best way to find a taxi after theatre and told to call the concierge after the play and one would be sent but we were beyond surprised (and delighted) to leave the theatre and have a driver they had already sent approach us by name and say that he was there to take us to the hotel!The staff were professional yet personal and manage to be attentive without being intrusive. Very few hotels or restaurants manage to achieve that. Our experience at The Balmoral was exceptional and one we look forward to repeating.

Experience luxury and exceptional service
We had walked across northern England in May 2013 and planned the side trip to Edinburgh because it is a beautiful city with great shopping and to spend a night at The Balmoral Hotel. We had reserved a Junior Suite on the sixth floor. There were three sets of windows in our suite and the suite was so spacious and so comfortable. The service from all staff was spectacular; it was simply extraordinary. High tea was great fun! Breakfast was relaxed and comfortable and the breakfast staff brought us everything we wanted.
