Clean property Nice Location Everything you would except from a Doubletree
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Doubletree Hotel on Stone Street. We arrived by train into the city and our taxi driver had no trouble finding the hotel. The hotel is also close to a subway station which made travel back to NY Penn Station a breeze when it was time to leave.The lobby is one level up from the street. When we checked in, we were each presented with the standard warm cookie greeting. The lobby was small but there were some places to sit and relax. The staff were all very nice and welcoming including the bell hop.Our room was typical size for a NYC hotel as in not very large. Everything was clean and modern and we had a great view looking over a small section of Battery Park and the East River. It was worth the little bit of extra money for the view. The bathroom was tight. There was nowhere really to store your toiletries or make-up items. There was a shower only and not a bathtub.You are close to many great things by this hotel - Battery Park, The World Trade Center Memorial, Century 21 (for great discount shopping on designer and name brand wear), Pier 19, The Museum of American Finance, the National Museum of the American Indian, Wall Street, and all the great restaurants and outdoor dining on this historic cobble stone section of Stone Street. In addition to all the attractions that are close to this hotel, it isn't that far by subway train to Times Square, Broadway, and other sections of the city. You are also not that far from the Little Italy, Chinatown, and Tribeca. There are many beautiful parks and pathways around the river. Be sure to take some time to explore.We highly recommend Crepes Du Nord for brunch (ingredients from their own farm in the Catskills.........and try some of their Lingonberry treats) and the Financier Patisserie for a delicious breakfast. (fresh roasted coffee and French breakfast and pastry specialties) Both are located on the cobblestone section of Stone Street.Overall we found this hotel to be a great value in NYC and we would recommend it without hesitation

Good hotel
I booked 2 nights here through hotwire at about $160 + taxes per night. The rooms are small, but clean.The sliding bathroom door does not have a lock and there's a gap between it and the wall. So if you're traveling with someone else, you might want to be aware of it. The elevators are terrible. It's a lot easier to take the stairs. But for the price it's a good hotel.Doubletree should stop giving those cookies. They're unhealthy, full of sugar, and contributing (in its small way) to the obesity epidemic sweeping the nation.

Delicious cookies!
The hotel was clean, with a comfortable king size bed, and updated bathroom. It was very convenient to the subway, and the staff was helpful. Delicious cookie at check in! No breakfast included, and the wi fi in the room would have cost nearly $10, so we didn't use it. A nice business set up was available on the lobby floor with 4 computers and free printing, which helped. The location was safe, very close to the Battery Park and Wall Street, but next time I'd prefer to be more central.

Doubletree Financial District New York
One of the seemingly growing number of extremely vertical hotels in New York. Located a short walk from South Ferry, pleasant staff, small but well-appointed rooms. HVAC system is quiet, and, unlike some older properties, the temperature control is room-specific. Because of its out-of-the-way location, the rates here are better than similar properties in mid-town or Times Square. But by taking the 1 train from South Ferry to Chambers and changing to a 2 or 3 (Express), access to other parts of the city is quick and easy. (Avoid the N & R - both make all local stops, and the high number of steps at the Whitehall Street station make the bags seem heavier....) Like other vertical hotels, this one is also under served by 3 elevators, especially in the 8-930 AM time frame.

Stayed one night for the 5 Boro Bike Ride
Room was fine and bed was very comfy. Check in staff a little slow and my booking was wrong. Elevators were not up to the task of multiple people storing bikes in their rooms but I'm sure that's not a common problem!Convenient to multiple subway lines. lots of restaurants and the bike paths up the river
