This is the worst hotel I have been to. The Chinese receptionist was rude, no hospitality at all... I had booked this hotel 2 months in advance using Expedia.co.uk and clearly mentioned that we are family of four including two children in the notes. When we arrived at the hotel the Chinese receptionist was asking for more money for my elder child and he was very rude and did not allow us to check-in and talk to his manager. I left the hotel and tried other hotels nearby but could not any room so had to returned backed to this hotel again as no option left. I negotiated with the receptionist, he charged us extra money and allowed us to stay.Wi-Fi did not work in our room, rooms were not clean... It should be rated as zero star hotelIf you do not want to spoil your holidays, I will not recommend anyone to stay in this hotel...

My friend and I had a holiday travelling around Italy in which we stayed in Milan, Verona, Mestre and Rome and we rated each of the hotels for fun. This came out as second worst. It was the most expensive of the hotels by far. I liked the breakfast room and the location (it was near the coliseum and in walking distance of the trevi fountain) but the room itself was quite gloomy and very basic. I wouldnt recommend it if you were going as a couple as its not particularly romantic. There is a supermarket nearby which was reasonably priced. Its also near a train station. I would say if you could afford to go somewhere else a bit better, it would make a positive difference to your trip.

Because of it's location, we decided and booked this hotel through Expedia in just few minutes.Yes, the location is great. Just 5 minutes away from Termini and Vittoria Emmanuelle metro station. All the tourist attractions are not very far. If you are visiting Rome, you have to like walking! There was a supermarket near by which was a plus. The room had very old furniture (need some renovation), was not very clean. Telephone in the room did not work, I had to go all the way down to reception to request something. WIFI is free but, does not work so never bother. The lift was too small and was out of service two times.Breakfast was very basic, tea/coffee was served cold (in Italy!).Reception staff spoke very little English. If you ask something to Chinese reception, he will always says ''I do not know, ask my manager'' and nothing else. If you are looking for a budget hotel with good location, this place is for you!

I stayed in Hotel D'Este for the second time in Jan 2013, the reason being value for money and proximity to major tourist attractions in Rome. Moreover, there is closely located Metro stations (Vitoria Emmanuelle) and the Roma Termini itself is at 5minutes walk. For this reason, I could save money in local travels, as taxi is relatively expensive in Rome and they charge extra for luggage also. Well, the amenities in the hotel are reasonable and come with complimentary breakfast. The staff was good and friendly except the one guy who was in night duty during our checkout time. The room was small but neat, clean and had all required amenities. The lift was very small and cannot accommodate more than 2 persons with many luggages. Being located in front of a busy road, there was lot of traffic and noise as our room was facing the street. The heater in the room was very effective and hence was a comfort for me and family amidst the severe cold climate during the period of visit. Overall, I am happy and satisfied with the hotel mainly for the reason of good location and value for money. I will recommend this hotel to those who are on long travels to Europe and hence want to save money on room rent but without compromising on comfort.

I was in love with Rome when I visited it over the summer. I did a two week tour: Rome- Venice- Milan and then in Spain to Barcelona and Madrid. I was in Rome for 3 nights , 4 days and was enough time to visit the most important sights.The hotel was in a great location. I love walking and it was a great distance walk to all the spots you needed and tons of restaurants. Close by Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, Piazza della Repubblica, Colosseo, Forum Romanum park, Arch of Titus, Trajan's Column, Vittoriano a Roma, and many more-- and just 3 metro stops to the Spanish Steps, and around 15 min bus ride to St. Peters -depending on the traffic. Balcony view in the city was superb, especially the sunset when looking at Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore which was right on our right. I am not a fancy spoiled kid so I travel on a budget and this was a fairly clean and average hotel. But I had a great experience because it gave me that Roman feeling, italian life etc. Guys at the reception were very friendly, cleaning ladies were very nice as well. The only bad thing is that when I came there, the wifi was not working....had so much trouble with it. But okay overall- not a fancy breakfast but good. I love food, so when I go in every city/country I like to try everything. Amazing food was at Tomoko Tudini- walking distance from the hotel. Metro station close by, a great grocery store, shops etc. Very beautiful city--- try to spend your money when buying leather goods like bags, shoes, belts etc , food, souvenirs, museums, etc than splurging on a fancy hotel where you only spend a few hours just sleeping, because most of the day you would be outdoors sightseeing :)
