Great Hotel
We spent 4 nights here back during the Italian holidays, the area was very quiet at this time as most of hte business' shut up shop so finding open restaurants nearby was pretty difficult. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the rooms very very bright and colourul, which suits me fine. No the hotel isn't on the doorstep of the colosseum, but its hardly a long long way! You can walk it if thats your sort of thing but there are bus stops one street away that will take you straight there. We drove to Rome, so the free basement parking was a must for us.I wouldnt' hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

Colourful hotel
We stayed at the Albani for 3 nights, the decor was very colourful and the bathroom a reasonable size,and a nice view over the park. They were the best bits, the staff were not at all helpful, there were no tea making facilities in the rooms.Evening meals were only for groups of people, and the communal areas small. When asked about air conditioning all we got was - it's not working! We had to catch a bus to the main sights of Rome but that was ok once you found the buses.The hotel recommended to eat at Allo Specchio around the corner of the hotel, not impressed with meal and check the price of the wine. However we found a brilliant restaurant if slightly expensive but worth every penny called Larys s.r.l Via Basento 54/56,00198 Roma.

Very nice, good value
My wife and I stayed there for three nights during our honeymoon in Rome. The hotel is reasonably priced compared to many others, is very nice, and the staff is friendly. I recommend Hotel Albani to anyone looking for a nice place to stay that won't kill your wallet.

Fantastic Week
Our first visit to Rome and we were perfectly situated at the Hotel Albani for what we wanted. As other reviewers have said, it is necessary to use public transport to get to all the sights, but we found this to be advantageous as the hotel was away from any noisy nightlife.My grandchildren especially liked the tram rides! The Hotel itself was spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is really good value for money as we ate there and didn't need anything much for the rest of the day! I am Coeliac so could not eat the lovely croissants, bread or cakes on offer but I was offered gluten-free crispbreads, muesli and biscuits instead. The family room that my daughter and her family had was very big and had a balcony overlooking the Villa Albani grounds. My twin room was also large and airy although there was no view - but we did not expect views in a city centre hotel! We found local restaurants while walking around the area and a supermarket for wine, cheese etc if we fancied a snack in our rooms.The 24 euro 7 day ticket for bus, tram and metro is excellent value and we made good use of ours, visiting all the sights, sometimes more than once.All in all, we were really pleased that we had chosen Hotel Albani and I would recommend it to anyone who wants clean, bright and friendly accommodation in Rome.

A bright and colourful place to stay!
This 4* hotel is attractive and very bright and colourful. The room was a good size, exceptionally well-kept and cleaned daily. I found this aspect of the hotel impressive - there was no dirt or dust in sight. The bathroom was lovely - again a decent size and the bath was quite big; perfect for relaxation. The view from the room was disappointing though. The hotel has a bar, which was nice but was not really busy at night time. This wasn't a problem at all, as me and my boyfriend made use of the public transport to get into town. We took the '63' bus, which runs up until midnight. Bus tickets cost 1 euro 50 and can be bought just around the corner from the hotel or in fact in town at most tobacco stores. There was a bus stop located 150m from the hotel, so not far at all. The bus really is easy to use and you can get into town in 15 minutes. The busses are busy so maybe don't use them if you are claustrophobic. We did travel during the Easter holidays though, so I suspect that this could have been a contributing factor. On Saturday night, we wanted to be in town quickly so we took a taxi to the Spanish Steps. Contrary to expectation, the taxi only cost 8 euros and perhaps this is because we flagged it down on the street, rather than booking through the hotel, which uses private cars.Friendliness of the staff: the staff working in the restaurant were excellent, extremely nice and the 'friendly faces' of the hotel. (I must add that for ten euros, the breakfast was delicious and good value.) The coffee was simply fantastic and the chocolate croissants - YUM! The reception staff were fine - one gentleman was very nice - he gave a lot of advice and help about the public transport. I do think that the hotel could improve though if the rest of the staff on the front desk were more personable and friendly. The hotel is located approximately 45 minutes from the Fiumicino Airport. On arrival, we made our way to the hotel using busses. This wasn't great, as we didn't know where we were going really and the central bus station is quite busy, especially from the point of view of the foreign tourist. On the way home, we flagged down a taxi on the street, which cost 53 euros. Note - the hotel charges 55 euros for this journey.All in all, a lovely stay.
