It is possible to get one's expectations up when traveling to another country. We had spent 2 nights in Barcelona and flew into Malaga and a quick taxi ride down to Torremolinos and arrived at this hotel with those expectations. The front desk was polite, orderly and efficient. The issue for us was the room. We were told we had a room with a view of the sea when booking. However when we arrived in the room our expectations of a "Sea View" were shattered as one had to go out on the balcony to see the SEA around the corner of the hotels' edge. I will yield that this does constitute a "Sea View" however in my humble opinion it is NOT. After a bit of back and forth they moved us to the front (Sea side) of the hotel into a room a few doors down from the elevator. Wonderful sea view. Good thing we enjoyed the view of the sea since the elevator traffic was horrendous. The sound of roller luggage and people talking all night was enough make us never want to stay at this hotel again. PLUSES: BREAKFAST, POOL and FRONT DESK: Be sure to do the breakfast buffet in the morning as it was one of the saving graces of this hotel. The Pool was lovely with a person on staff to help you with towels and lounge chairs just get their EARLY. The front desk was accommodating.RECOMMENDATION: Make sure you are on the FRONT side of the hotel to have a view of the Sea. Also make sure you are a great distance from the elevator. Super thin walls allow you to hear the sound of other rooms and every roll or everyone's roller luggage and conversations in the hallways.

From Malaga airport take the train, which is just across the road to Torremolinos (4 stops). From the station head towards the seafront, there's no easy way to describe how to get there as there's more than one route, but all involve going down many steps. There is a lift (cost 50 cents), but its set at the end of a side street and is not signposted. The good news is the Hotel Melia is not far. Reception is set between the 2 hotel blocks and is on a lower level. Check in was quick and easy. Senor Garcia recommended a better choice of room than what we had requested. We had a junior suite in block A on the 9th floor. The balcony is large and gets the sun all day. The suite had a decent sized lounge, bedroom and bathroom. There was plenty of storage space, 2 TV's, mini bar and free safe. Breakfast was in a large but very well organised area. There was plenty of choice and it was all delicious. What impressed me was the alternative choices e.g lactose free milk, soya milk, decaff coffee etc. The hotel is in a great location. Its quiet with great views, but its just metres away from the centre of Torremolinos .Prices vary enourmously. On the sea front you can get a large beer for 1 euro, in the centre we were charged 12.5 euros for 1 beer and 1 glass of sangria (caf¿¿ Torremolinos). If you turn left on leaving the hotel, its approx. 1 hours walk to the end of Torremolinos. Once you get past the high rise 70's style blocks you come to a more attractive residential area with newly set up bars (which all looked very nice) on the beach. Turn right when you leave the hotel and there's a nice bar on the corner (called banana bar I think), nice atmosphere and lovely views. Continue for 40 minutes and you'll get to Benalmadena. The marina is worth a walk round and theres some nice bars and restaurants but beware its full of sales people touting for business. Theres a great mini golf in Benelmadena, where you can get food, drink and mini golf for a good price. The course itself is great fun - totally uneven and you'll either get a hole in one or it will take you 20 putts to nail it. Buses run regularly to Malaga, they take you into the centre and its definitely worth a visit, lots of culture, shops and tapas bars. We've bin to this area several times now, and I would definitely stay at the Melia again. It's not used by the big tour operators and this somehow gives it a nicer feel.

This hotel had a reasonably sized room and breakfast with a good position.Minor gripes were a hard bed and a poor bathroom with no tissues provided.MAJOR gripe was that even as a careful frequent traveller, important items are sometimes left behind and despite emailing the hotel with the full details and requesting an urgent response combined with the ease and security of wishing the item to be forwarded to another Melia hotel (Bilbao), my request was ignored for 5 days. And then there was no apology for lateness - just a lecture about how nothing would be done until they had heard from Melia Bilbao confirming that I would accept the freight costs despite the fact that I already indicated acceptance and had a confirmed 3 night booking in Bilbao.Mr. Perez please be advised that REAL customer service is not just some superficial gestures by reception staff but extends to doing the right thing for guests even after they have checked out and request some reasonable assistance.

we have just got back today , very pleased with the whole trip , hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly and happy . It was my husbands 50th , so i contacted the hotel to ask for extras , they very helpful with any request . The breakfast is fantastic , with so many choices , everything you could think of , will be going back again . Thank you Melia and staff for making our stay memorable.

We booked this hotel as a quick getaway for a 5 night stay after getting married.We arrived rather late due to a delayed flight however the reception staff could not have been more helpful. We were upgraded to a superior room and throughout our stay the staff were courteous, the standard of cleanliness excellent and housekeeping of a high standard.We stayed under a B & B option and there was plenty of choice at breakfast. The staff regularly replenished the more popular items.The hotel is opposite the beach and a short walk away from bars/restaurants. The hotel pool is clean is attended. Overall a very nice place to stay
