Great Value, clean, new
My wife and I stayed here in June 2013 for three nights. We were hesitant at first because it was a little out of the way. When we arrived we were impressed with the hotel overall. It was new and clean. Had a pool on the top floor overlooking the ocean. Small gym but newer machines to get the job done. There was a metro station (Llacuna) two blocks away (5min walk) which connected you with the entire city. Very convenient. Also, the beach was only a few blocks away. We walked all the way to barceloneta beach is about a 15 min walk so we did it one day but found that the area near the hotel was better. Less crowded and flatter. We never ate at the restaurant because there were a lot of restaurants on a long strip close by. Oh and the hotel provides 4 small bottles of water each day free of charge. The wifi is free and worked very well. If you need to wash clothes while in this area, "Tintoreria" is a few blocks away. We were at the end of our trip so we had two loads of clothes washes, dried and folded for 20E. It's open from 9-8pm with a drop off/pick up.

No iron. Not four star.
I hate to say it as reception friendly. Pool awful. Small roof. I would not have complained buy I'm here on my birthday with carry on. And no iron in closets. A hotel that tries to make money on launder services but now has none to offer. Its my birthday and my boyfriend has a wrinkled suit. Night ruined.

Worst front desk staff, poor quality service
We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights to attend a conference at CCIB. The room was dusty and not clean. We had problems with shower. Asked for a different room, we couldn't get it. The staff at reception was not helpful and very adamant. The linens were not changed every morning, we had to sleep with the same linen for 3 days before we complained. The breakfast was very expensive and not of good standard. The breakfast buffet was very limited and was charged 15 euros per person. I certainly would not recommend this hotel for stay.

Comfortable hotel near the beach
The Confortel is a short walk to the beaches of Barcelona and the Poblenou Rambla. The hotel is clean and very modern if somewhat spartan in decor, grey wood veneer furniture with bits of red formica remind one of a 70s coffee bar. It is a pleasant 3Km walk along the beaches to the Conference Centre (which I was attending) and an equally interesting walk in the other direction downtown or you can take the metro which is an easy 10 minute walk. The actual area around the hotel other than Poblenou Rambla is of little interest. There was quite a lively street party there on the Saturday night!The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, but my phone didn't work so ordering room service meant a trip to reception which was worth it because the food was good,

Meets world standards for new, medium-sized 3 or 4 star hotel
Clean, new, modern, very decent. Their basic, rectangular rooftop pool opens after May. Internet works in the rooms, if you have a problem with reception, try asking for a change of rooms. It seems to me to be at a decent speed, but everything is relative. The computer's internet in their lobbies are painstakingly, can I emphasize: painfully, boringly slow. If you are a person who needs internet do not depend on their lobby computers.If you don't mind taking a 10-minute metro or bus ride into the heart of town it is well-located. Bus #6 drops you off at the door. Llacuna metro stop is 2-3 very short blocks away.Many of the reviews say the reception desk isn't very helpful and while they didn't seem to know much about Barcelona, they were pleasant. Many reviews also complain about the neighborhood, which is a bit deserted, but doesn't seem menacing. In fact, they have their own pedestrian zone where locals walk their dogs and eat (much better food than in the famous Ramblas). Confortel is als are within walking distance of a nice, long stretch of beach with running/cycling paths, for fitness freaks.Breakfast is very expensive: why not try out the cheaper caf¿¿s one block away and people-watch?
