A Sense of History & Culture with Modern Amenities
The Bull is a favorite spot for my Peterborough stays. True English character and historic appeal with all the needed modern conveniences. Solid free wifi walking distance from the remarkable Peterborough Cathedral and modern Westgate Shopping Mall. I recommend the Executive Rooms which are more spacious than Standard Rooms and have the convenience of modern heating & air conditioning. The restaurant and room service are of high quality and staff are courteous and professional with an orientation towards excellent guest service. An easy 10 minute walk to and from the train station or just a ¿¿4 taxi ride if you prefer. Walk through the shopping mall if during tgeir opening hours or around its perimeter and over the pedestrian overpass if the mall is closed. A true delight.

What can i say, this hotel and staff are excellent, we have now stayed at the Bull 5 times over the last 5 years just before Christmas, we stay for 2 - 3 days do our Christmas shopping and have a break all in one go, this Hotel is great for this as you are a stone throw from all the shops, so you don't have to carry your shopping to far.The Staff are second to none, very helpful and are always their if you need assistance, they even helped us carry our xmas shopping from the Mall to our room one year, when someone spotted us struggling with the bags.

gold voucher visit
over christmas peel hotels offer a hotel gold voucher deal,2nights in any of there hotels, an executive room with full breakfast and 3 course evening meal,for ¿¿149 per couple, we booked the bull for april 22 2013,the hotel is in central peterborough, 10mins from the city square, the cathederal is opposite the squareit is well worth a visit,no fee ,but donation asked for, there are plenty of shops and cafe all round the hotel, the service in the hotel is excellent as is the food. The room was very clean with a large bath and shower,a flat screen 32inch tv plus free wi-fi and a king sized bed,the car parking is free,the 3 course evening meal is off a special menu offering a choice of 4 starters,4 main meals,4 sweets and coffee,i would recommend this hotel if you can get a deal, the listed price of our stay when not on a deal was over ¿¿350.00

Don't Trust their customers
I have stayed 4 times now at the Bull. Rooms have been done up and are small but nice, main areas are ready for a good clean up. What I just don't get every time is their refusal to pre-authorise credit cards. As Well as insisting on charging all rooms in advance, they make you physicall PAY ¿¿50 on your credit card in advance. Then, if you spend less than this they refund the difference. This must be the only hotel in Britain that charges over ¿¿100 a room and can't trust their customers with a simple pre-authorisation, like anyone else does. Exceptionally poor and, I would question, not even legal. What did I pay ¿¿50 for? I didn't get a Gift Voucher, I would have just given ¿¿50 of my own money before I had even decided if I was going to spend anything.In addition to this, the food was awful. We had a company event, "hot buffet" which consisted of some sort of Chicken Mushroom thing and a vegetarian Lasagne. The Chicken thing was cold, the wine was awful.Room Service breakfast - beans had a film over them and the egg had hardened up, from taking too long. The Coffee was Luke warm.I say every time I have to stay here that this is so overly expensive for it's standard.

Glad I wasn't paying
In reverse order ladies & gents. Toast toasted on one side. Fire alarm went off at 06:30 - false alarm but gets the blood flowing as you rapidly pull your trousers on over your pyjamas. Wi-fi on the blink. Could clearly hear lady on phone in room next door. Water in shower hot but water from tap not even warm. Black mould on window frames. Glad I'm not claustrophobic - the room was so small my luggage posed a tripping hazard ( health & safety police alert) I don't have a spider web tattoo on my neck so felt a little out of place in centre of Peterborough after dark. (Ps.....that's artistic license for you pedants) I'm not going back.
