We found this hotel through Trivago and we got a great rate for a 5 star hotel in London. There are so many great things to say about this hotel, the location is perfect, just a stones throw from Sloane Square, yet tucked away in a quiet location overlooking the beautiful garden square. We had the Irving room, which I shared with my 2 daughters age 10 and 13. They provided an extra bed and there was still ample room for us all. Thoughtful little touches such as a handwritten note, a teddy on the bed and a bag of sweets, delighted the girls. The only problem we encountered was that the shower did not work and this was swiftly remedied. One minor but irritating point was that the mirror above the dressing table was hung so high that you had to stand to see in it.All the staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. A fantastic advantage to this hotel is that they serve complimentary tea at 4, champagne at 7 and hot chocolate at 9.30, which the kids loved. We will definitely be returning to this lovely hotel again

Even better than the last time
I have been to the Draycott Hotel many years ago twice and always liked it. In the meantime the hotel underwent same changes and I have to say for the better. We had a lovely Deluxe Double with views over the garden. The hotel is in an quiet street but with easy access to the bus and underground. And one can walk to a lot of places and shops. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast should have a little bit more of a choice, it is just ok. They are working on it, I was told. But, and this was a very nice gesture, they let us buy a breakfast tray as we liked it so much. All in all: We will most certainly be back.

Great and not so great....
I am in my second night of three at the Draycott. There are many really good things about this hotel. They include the size of the towels, the VERY friendly and helpful staff, the location, the beautiful garden in back, the common areas, the very comfortable beds, the amazing pillows, the white terry cloth robes, perfect pots of afternoon tea in front of a fire on a cold winter's day, but I have had a few major issues. I was first booked into the Carole Reed room in the basement. I had asked way ahead of time for a quiet room when I made my reservation. Given that it is in the basement with only one other room it would seem like a quiet location. However the Carole Reed room faces the street and an outside stair way that the staff use for some deliveries. The housekeeping staff (who are all extremely nice and helpful) also have a room down here where they seem to congregate. The door opening and closing loudly over and over in the early parts of the day was driving me bonkers. The staff also don't seem to take notice that there are two rooms on this floor an talk very loudly in the hall and their comings and goings are quite disruptive to a relaxed hotel like the Draycott. If I managed this hotel I would insist that no doors are slammed and that conversation is not held in that small hallway. I asked to have my room moved but the power was out for most of my first day and the staff were very busy trying to deal with this. I understood that, so just left it until the next day.I also had no real hot water in my shower. It would be hot when it first came on but then would disappear to barely tepid water and the water pressure would also drindle down so that you had to stand right up against the wall with the faucets to get to the water. At first I thought it might be due to the power outage and a staff member did come test it, but of course after he left the water went tepid again! The next morning it was still not hot and I was very frustrated. The weather is freezing in London and the one thing that I needed was a very hot shower. They offered to move me across the hall to the beautiful, huge Oliver suite complete with fireplace, huge bathtub and shower etc. I was thrilled. Just the fire place alone cheered me up.But in this room you can actually hear THE TUBE. So about every 4-5 minutes you hear this rumbling noise. I tried to take a nap this afternoon and it was very unnerving. At first I could not figure it out. I asked a staff member if we were on the flight path to Heathrow. But the frequency of the noise was such that it has to be the tube. For the price this room would go for I would never pay that rate to be able to hear the tube. This absolutelyi isn't the hotels fault but for someone like me who is a super light sleeper who dreads any repetitive noise this is a deal breaker. I wouldn't stay in either of these rooms again.I also had room service for two dinners, tea and breakfast. As the other reviews on here state the breakfast is VERY expensive and just not good. My dinner the first night was great, the second night I had to send it back as the lettuce on the Caesar salad was extremely bitter. I have never had lettuce like this in England or anywhere else! The were very understanding and exchanged it for the Risotto which was very good, but the room service is so expensive I really expect it to be great every time. If I was less jet lagged I would be eating all of my meals out. Except for the tea, which was perfect.

Nice hotel, great central location
We've stayed at the Draycott a number of times & have like the hotel every time. We've always stayed in the Agatha Christie room, which faces the [quiet] square behind the hotel and has a nice view of the park. That room also has a small kitchette, so you can prepare your own breakfast and/or have a place to make snacks, store soda, etc. The rooms are like your elderly aunt's living room - overstuffed chairs and oriental carpets and lots of books. Very quiet. Lots of doilies. The staff has always been nice & things like arranging for transportation to and from the airport go off without a hitch. Their breakfasts are expensive & unless you like a large breakfast, I'd suggest buying food to have your own in your room or visit any of the local coffee shops, etc. to get something to eat in the am.The hotel is located just behind Sloane Square and about a 125' walk from the Square. A very short walk to the Sloane Square tube station. A 5 - 10 minute walk from Harrod's & maybe a 20 minute walk to South Kensington. It's a great location if you like to walk places because so much is within a relatively short walk & the proximity of the tube for longer trips is very handy. The Draycott is in a Victorian era brick building & if you're looking for a post-modern, W Hotel-style experience, this won't work for you. The stairs creak a bit, the elevator is tiny and slow, and the hallways are narrow - all very Brit. My only criticism is they keep the rooms warm, probably around 74 or 75 degrees F. The problem is easily solved by cracking the window, but if you're like me and like a room a bit cooler, you'll find you've always got the windows open a slit. All in all, we like the people, like the physical hotel and love the location. We'll definitely return.

Fabulous find...like staying in a friend's home
I just spent 4 nights at the Draycott Hote,l in their smallest room, and it was like staying in a jewel box! The room was impeccable and very well set up. The bathroom was actually larger than the bedroom area and beautifully done! The staff could not have been more helpful or more accommodating. They were able to give me an early check in and a late check out which was much appreciated. It was like staying in a friend's home in a cozy flat in London...exactly what an experience in London should be! It was PERFECT!
