disappointing
Huge 'executive' room, but poorly designed, and much of the equipment in it was damaged or didn't work properly. For example, tiny wardrobe and no coat hooks; ridiculously complicated integrated TV and internet so that it required 4 menus just to get BBC1, and Radio 4 was not an option; internet fell over in the evening, so the promise of unlimited broadband was unfulfilled; in addition the 'hot' breakfast was tepid. Not recommended.

Just what you expect from Novotel
Stayed here on business on a week day. Parking is limited, but I was able to park ok at 6pm. There is a charge for the parking.Check in was quick and efficient.Room was clean and well equipped - fridge, safe, hair dryer, tea making tray. Ate in the restaurant - a couple of menu items not available. I had the Beef Stroganoff - it was ok, but not what I expected. I expected Beef Stroganoff to be beef in a cream sauce, but this was beef in a bowl of gravy. The service in the bar and restaurant was very good.Check out was efficient. Remember to get your car park ticket validated.

Nightmare if no parking
I have stayed in this place a few times now. Short answer- If parking available then its a high end budget hotel. If there is no parking, then your stay turns into a nightmare. It means you have to park across the road which will need top up at around 7-8 in the morning. Not ideal if you are planning a perfect weekend get away. I cant take any risk regarding parking and wont be staying here again

Very clean, friendly & centrally located
Nice room, good location. As other reviewers have mentioned, room was very hot (in May!) but slept fine with window open even though close to main road. Very, very clean. Check in was swift, very helpful & friendly staff. We didn't eat there so can't comment on the same. We took our labrador with us who was welcomed too.

Great customer service
A quick get away break, booking direct with hotel (Raymond), very helpful friendly, when we arrived he also checked us in, upgraded us to a better room in a quieter part of the hotel. He was very polite and really should be acknowledge for great service which is so rare these days. Once in our room the TV would not change channels, I called and again, Raymond responded promptly, attended but could not resolve the issue, he immediately moved us to another room nearby without any fuss. Room service breakfast was great quality, bar staff were also very friendly and the hotel was immaculate. A lovely break away.
