Terrific hotel, near old town and the train station
Boutique hotel with very friendly staff, walking distance to old town. I was extremely pleased with our two day stay in Edinburgh. The Apex is located just a few minutes walk, when you exit from the rear of the train station, or about 1/3 of a mile if you exit from the front of the train station. The hotel is located within walking distance of many shops and restaurants as well as the tourist center and the tour buses. The room was extremely clean and well appointed and the staff was terrific. I would definitely stay again!

Great location, nice for couples
As a short honeymoon trip, my husband and I booked our stay here. Unfortunately, we were placed on the floor where the entrance to the lobby is and the room was directly next to the staff room. We could hear the staff going in and out of the room at all hours. We checked out the sauna, steam room, and pool. The sauna didn't feel like it was hot enough, but the steam room was fine and the pool was ok. It is actually smaller than it looks in the photos. The best thing about this hotel is the location because it's not directly in the middle of everything, but still within walkable distance to the main attractions. If the staff hadn't been going in out of the room the whole time, it would've actually been very quiet. Lastly, a nice plus was that the room had both a stand-up shower and a bathtub.

Brilliant
Stayed for 1 night in May 2013. Great room and location but best of all was the service. After checking out and leaving our suitcases (no problem at all) we returned soaking (Scottish weather) and were given keys to the spa and told we could use all the facilities to freshen up. Suitcases were then taken back and stored and taxi rang waiting for us outside. Would definately stay again!!

Good place to stay
Good hotel in close proximity to Waverley train station. We stayed for one night mid week to attend the theatre and enjoyed a very good pre-theatre meal with excellent service. Breakfast service was not as good - waiting staff were not very attentive but food was good. Room was very comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Great place to stay
Stayed in The Wellington suite. Great place to stay. Staff were very friendly from the moment you walked into the hotel to when you left. Everybody from the cleaners upwards were very helpful. Breakfast is very good. The room was very comfortable and the separate walk in shower and bathroom great. Nice little touches in the room. Bed very comfortable. Made use of the gym and sauna/steam room as well as the swimming pool. If you're looking for a treat then this is a good place to go. Thanks for the lovely stay.
