We visited the Old Waverley Hotel bar for a few hours and found it to be a very relaxing experience. The views of Princes Street and the Castle were an added attraction. Staff were friendly and the bar has a good selection of Malt Whiskeys. Bit pricey but quality

Great hotel, staff were very friendly with smiling faces and a good morning. location is first class,and very central.The room was good size and spotless. Would be very happy to stay there again.The location is perfect, and right in a central location.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights.excellent location and the staff were friendly.decor is slightly dated but the hotel was clean. Would stay here again. We had a late snack at the hotel and it was lovely. I would recommend this hotel.

VisitScotlalnd.com, at the Edinburgh Airport, got us this last minute booking. The hotel is just across the street from the Sir Walter Scott Memorial and perhaps 100 yards from the tour buses headquartered on the Waverly Bridge; despite its location, it was very quiet, even on Saturday night. The buffet Scottish breakfast was delicious and more than ample, and included haggis and black pudding, which were actually surprisingly good; the hostess immediately asked us whether we wanted coffee or tea and brought it promptly. The corner table was perfect for people-watching on the street, and the breakfast room opened early; I think it was opened more than two hours each morning. The dinner offerings were delicious, although after the first night it was more fun to go to other nearby pubs on Rose Street, a pedestrian shopping area a half block away. The king-sized bed was wonderfully comfortable and the room also had a sofa, chairs, desks, etc. This hotel is (apparently) absolutely not suited for persons with mobility problems; the entry flight of stairs had at least fourteen steps, and the elevator on the "zero" floor would have been considered second floor in the U.S. There were many ups and downs getting to the room; after all this was a Victorian Age or earlier building. The front desk staff was very patient helping my wife adapt to the British telephone system on a "throw-away" cell phone which accepted British signals and learning to switch outlets off and on when she wanted to charge electronics. As leisure travelers, we did not become aware of the business facilities.There were usually at least two persons at the front desk, so we never had to wait more than a few minutes for gracious service.

My colleague and I stayed at the Waverley, for a business trip, in April 2013 and found the staff very friendly and helpful; the rooms lovely and clean, the bed fabulously comfortable and large, with great pillows!; and the location - on Princes Street excellent for our purposes. We didn't eat in the evening so cannot comment on the restaurant, but the breakfast was very good - everything available and lovely and hot. I would recommend this hotel for both business and pleasure purposes.
