Nice hotel, Pity about the photographer
Having stayed at this 3 star hotel as a member of a coach party, I can recommend it for future travellers as being at the upper end of what one would expect for 3 starsThe hotel is clean, warm, and comfortable, with spacious rooms and plenty of storage space. The TV was flat screen, aprox 22" wide, with usual mix of freeview channels, and the bed was a large double with a fairly 'hard' mattress. Sheets were clean and crisp. On the downside, my room could do with a paint update to doors and skirtings. The food was very good, with usual variety for breakfast, served quickly and hot, but the English 'head waiter' was very rushed, and had tendency to bring hot course to table before people had finished their cereal. However, all the other staff in the hotel bent over backwards to meet our every needsThe one annoying feature was the tame photographer who insisted on taking every one's photo whether u were willing or not, by sticking a camera in front of your face whether u were prepared or no. The following morning, these photos were mounted on front of a notebook and displayed prominently in reception, more or less forcing people to buy at ¿¿5 a time, so that rest of party didn't think one was a skinflint, and to cap it all, the photos were very poor quality. This procedure should be revised or stopped asap. Please note that the lift is very ancient, with grid gates that could be dangerous for young fingrs, and during our stay, it couldn't go to third floor, so those unfortunates had to go up to fourth floor and walk back down to third floorOverall, our stay at the Chatsworth was very comfortable, with friendly staff, good food, and comfgortable rooms We will definitely use this hotel again.

Lovely staff; owners clearly couldn't care less.
No hot water, food was inedible, pillows uncomfortable and stiff, single room and cost ¿¿90 for the night. Don't think so! These people are ripping off older folk its disgusting. The staff are it's only redeeming feature really-can't do enough for you. The owner (and his son who drives a Lamborghini off the pensioners profit) couldn't care less. What's more, the owner (being a sheik himself) would serve pork on a plate with other meats so Muslim individuals were not catered for if they wanted. No joke food actually not edible and old reused stuff from lunch etc for dinner. Yuk!!!

Easy come easy go.
Was quite amazed at the decor inside the hotel, had an oldy feel, defo needed up dating but i've seen worse. Warm and cosy i suppose, expected what we paid for, however the function room/ bar at the bottom of the hotel was so loud with music pumping out from 7pm in the evening right through till 3:30am, making it hard to sleep, even though we were on the 3rd floor.Staff seemed friendly and helpful, which is always good.Freeview tv was great, on a nice flatscreen, probably the most modern part of the room.Shower was a bit random, you'd be all warm and toasty one min then it would suddenly turn cold.Parking after driving round the block awaiting a space was ok, when we eventually found a space, but overal, as a last resort we probably would stay here again, as was right where we wanted to be.

Our experience was GOOD!
We booked in at the Chatsworth on a whim. Had we checked the Trip Advisor reviews, we would have probably have left well alone BUT, on a bitterly cold, snow filled evening, the whole place had a cosy glow about it. Receptionist Alex was welcoming and friendly, the bar looked inviting and and we got a very good rate for a double overlooking the sea.Yes, the Hotel is, worn and jaded. The lift is literally out of another century and, bizarrely, didn't stop at the third floor (our floor) going up but did coming down! However, the renovations (new carpets, double glazing, efficient shower etc) have ensured that it is warm and comfortable. We had an excellent night's sleep. We had no problem with the breakfast - perfectly cooked to order. All the staff we met were polite and professional. The position of the hotel overlooking the sea, couldn't be better. It is also very near the town centre and a number of bars and excellent restaurants. To .sum up, this is a 3 star hotel.. It's old and shows it. But the (limited) facilities and extremely affable staff were, for us, spot on. If you can get a good rate and a sea facing room and don't expect 5 star standards you shouldn't be disappointed.,

Staff Christmas party! Always a good night
We always attend my partners staff party at the Chatsworth! And I have to say this year I was most surprised by how much the standards gave improved! The hotel is looking more like it should as a jewel in Eastbourne's crown, good service (although some food was missing, this was quickly rectified). All good and clean. Only downer was the bar price, but you have to remember this is a hotel not a pub!
