Nice hotel let down by a few small things
Hotel decor was very nice - and was certainly consistent with its 4* rating. What did pleasantly surprise me was its very reasonable price point - we only paid only ¿¿44 per night! So why give it just 3 out of 5 as a rating? It's problem is it seems to focus in the wrong place. We stayed in rm 249 and the bed was VERY small (I'm not convinced it was even a proper double), and the mattress was soggy which meant the nights sleep was poor and I awoke with a crick in my neck. Another issue we had was with breakfast - which doesn't start until 8am at the weekend (and we wanted to be heading out at 8am so had to skip it). The final issue I had was with a weak shower without separate power and temperature controls so I couldn't get it to cool down and stay strong. Ultimately if I can't get a good night sleep, can't have a good shower and can't eat a nice breakfast at a sensible time then all if the effort on the decor and the very reasonable price count for nothing as those are 'must-dos' for any hotel.

Wonderful weekend!
My husband and I stayed for two nights from May 31st. On arriving we were greeted in our room by a welcome card and lovely cookies as it was our anniversary, a lovely touch as we can't even recall mentioning it!The staff were excellent throughout our stay. The food in the restaurant was excellent, as was breakfast, and everything was presented very nice.Lovely time at Chatsworth House also! Would recommend a stay here anytime!

Weekend in Derby
Our 2 night stay in this hotel did us as much good as a week would have done somewhere else. The staff were unfailingly friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was great and the room was lovely, if a little hot. My only suggestion for them in future would be to use free range eggs on the menu.

Good but a few staff issues
Stayed here for 2 nights 23rd/24th May on a Chatsworth house deal as a treat for my wife's 50th birthday. On arrival we found the reception staff very helpful and we were delighted with our room which was well appointed and also included a card from the hotel and some cookies for my wife's birthday. The reception staff were again good when pointing us in the right direction for the Westfield Shopping Centre which is literally 10 minutes away by foot.The next morning things went downhill a bit. At breakfast we were placed at a table with a quick, "Breakfast is through there & do you want tea or coffee?" We gave our order for drinks and the lady disappeared. We were then confronted by a guy with a full breakfast plate who had apparently already been sat at the table we were now sitting at. Fortunately he didn't make a fuss and just grabbed a different table. On choosing our breakfast from the buffet, which was running low on everything, we sat to eat only to find out from people on the next table that we could have ordered different than a full English from the buffet as there were things like kippers & haddock & different types of eggs available on order from the menu. We unfortunately were never told this by the breakfast staff.After a great visit to Chatsworth House we arrived back for our evening meal which again was let down by the staff. Firstly our booking wasn't on the list, but we were found a table. However through lack of staff, mainly 1 guy doing everything whilst 2 youngish girls wandered round aimlessly doing not a lot, our evening meal seemed to take for ever. The food was excellent, that I have to say, no problems there, my lamb was superb and my wife's beef sublime. But our plates were still sitting in front of us a full 25 minutes after we had finished our main course, despite attempts to grab someone's attention. In fact when they did eventually get taken away and we were offered the menus for dessert, we decided to just order what we could remember so the waiter didn't go away and come back 20 minutes later to take the order.We also had a slight problem on check out when we were presented with a bill for ¿¿75 for 2 bottles of wine ordered the previous evening at dinner under my name & our room number even though all we'd had was a bottle of cider. Again someone had made a huge mistake, but again the receptionist didn't make a big fuss although was obviously shocked when I insisted the wine was nothing to do with us. She quickly phoned someone up and then re-issued us with a bill for ¿¿4.95, which we were very grateful for.So all in all not a bad couple of days, would have got 5*s if it hadn't been for a few staff slip ups.

Brilliant package deal
We got a package deal from groupon to stay two nights with breakfast and 2 course evening meal each on night 2.Also got alton towers tickets too.brilliant deal. Excellent food. Bit pricey if we were paying for breakfast. Our first night meal was a lot but really really nice and it's a one off for us
