Whats in a Name?
Being a reasonably well travelled person the name 'Hilton' is to me a brand for the more better off type of traveller. I was actually disappointed! This hotel was nothing special, however, for those that can afford expensive room prices I cannot comment but on the whole the hotel was clean, breakfast good quality, staff friendly and helpful, but nothing special considering the name. I recommend this hotel if you want a good base to visit Cardiff.

Upgrade to Executive. Excellent.
We have used this hotel for 4 years now for a girls weekend away.14 girls went this weekend and it was as fantastic as usual, from the moment we arrive at the front and the car is parked for us, to the bags being taken to the rooms.The staff are impeccable every time.The ¿¿20 additional payment for upgrading to executive is money well spent, the executive lounge is lovely, the buffet served is delicious, and the ambience makes it.

Location, location, location........
We've stayed here a few times, its main advantage is that it offers family rooms, which lots of hotels don't. If you keep an eye out for offers then the deals that include meals are particularly good value when you consider the cost of eating out for a family of four. Our only gripe was the service in the restaurant for the evening meal on our first night - two hours for three courses! We were given a complimentary coffee by way of apology but really, that's not good enough. Its major selling point for us is that the hotel is right in the middle of Cardiff, literally a stone's throw from the castle. This gives easy access to the whole city centre, the motorway/train/bus stations if you are travelling, and the airport is about half an hour's drive. The Cardiff bay development is walkable,(just! if you have time) but is otherwise within easy reach by bus/car. South Wales offers great coastal views, beaches etc and lovely countryside. Cardiff itself is a rapidly developing European city and apparently now has more restaurants than Birmingham - there is a great range of choice of places to eat -and drink, there are some great old pubs and excellent local beers. Put this together with Premiership soccer, excellent rugby, county cricket, cinemas, theatres and concert halls all within walking distance of the hotel (you might prefer a bus/taxi if you are going to watch Cardiff City) and you have a very attractive package.

Lovely hotel in a great location
My fianc¿¿ booked us in for my birthday weekend and it was one of the best! We were very early arriving and wanted to find out if we could leave the car for parking before 3pm check in and fortunately they had a room ready so we were in our room with a view of the castle hours before we should have! The staff were helpful and attentive and as it was my birthday they sent chocs with "happy birthday" written on the plate to our room and when we checked out the reception were very courteous to print out my flight boarding pass which saved me alot of hassle. Will definitely book in again if visiting Cardiff..
