Tired hotel
We stayed for 2 nights bed and breakfast for a friends wedding.... The room was tired and shabby and the bed was so uncomfortable you rolled into the middle and it hurt the back of your legs when you tried to get out as the edges of the mattress was so hard! the bathroom needed a complete overall it had cracked tiles and the shower needs much more water pressure! Breakfast was a shambles and they could really do with investing in a industrial help your self toaster! As at the moment the staff do it and your lucky if you get warm bread! They kept running out if different foods and not once did the buffet have all the breakfast items offered they need to visit a premier inn etc. to see how to do it properly! We will not be returning....

Very friendly staff
Stayed at the Red Lion recently and loved the friendly feel of the place. Location perfect....surrounded by restaurants and bars and I was lucky enough to stay when there was a comedy night on - amazed to see a well known comedian at this hotel!Should I be in the area again I would definitely go back

Better alternatives out there
Two night stay for business ... Wish I'd opted for the Premier Inn and travelled into town!Rooms are tired and shabby. Expensive WiFi stopped working half way through the first night. An idiot kicking at my bedroom door at 2am. And staff didn't even have the foresight to give me toilet paper! Room service order was forgotten about. Best avoid!

noisy obnoxious neighbours - Rhubar!! Don't expect a good night of sleep!
There are not many things that let the Red Lion Hotel down, you pay for what you get! However, when you are trying to get a good night of sleep - don't expect to get one!!! RHU BAR were playing loud terrible music until the early hours of the morning, i contacted the owner of the establishment to ask if he would turn the noise down and got verbal abuse!!!! This has been reported to 101 and Basingstoke Deane Council, I hope their licence gets revoked!!! RudeBar do not have any respect or consideration for the Red Lion Hotel's residents. I will be giving very bad word of mouth about this RudeBar to everyone i meet in the future and contacting the local paper. It is a shame they let the hotel down as overall it is a lovely hotel with great warming staff!!!

Good family hotel
I've been coming monthly to the Red Lion for about 5 years.The staff is very friendly and does its best to ensure my stays are always pleasant.I am a heavy worldwide traveller and do not any other hotel that provides me with a "second home" feeling.BTW if you see Paul, ask him what time it is ;-)
