Same good standard as past 8 years
Always stay here when visiting ancient Aunt and Uncle who live in Neath. Very convenient for M4-immediatly off the roundabout, top of slip road J43. The reception staff are charming, and keep the area clean and tidy. As others have remarked, the car park has never been littered, which gives an excellent impression of the hotel.For a budget hotel, a double room is a fair size, if the bed a little narrow.Breakfast is a fair spread if you're hungry. (buffet style).Cross section of working people stay here - same people frequently.Harvester on site can have its off days!

Excellent Stay.....
4 Night break in South Wales.Off Motorway and some distance from Swansea, For a 10 year old hotel in excellent condition.I am always impressed when the car park is clean, tidy and litter free. This gives a first glanceimpression. Requested an accessible room (108) lift to first floor.The front desk staff were very accommodating to everyone. The room was very good, clean and tidy. Cleaned every morning.Breakfasts were a bit better than some H.I. X that we have stayed at. A good selection and neverran out.RecommendedThe Harvester net door was Naff/Smokey.....meal mediocre to say the least.....

Excellent
Stayed for 2 nights last week. Easy to get to from M4. It's one of the best HI Express I've stayed in. Hardly any of the others provide an evening meal or have a small shop selling snacks if peckish. Computer system was down on checkout - but as promised an VAT receipt was emailed to me around 90mins later.Looking at other reviews seems they forgot it is an Express. It does what it says on the tin. If you want full blown breakfast/dinner or room service book a standard HI. Harvester pub on site is good value.

Good location
We stayed here while visiting Swansea and Porthcawl.The hotel is conveniently situated just off the M4 and Heads of the Valleys road.Parking was easy and the reception efficient.Our room was on the Second floor with an inter-connecting door to another room.It was a pleasant clean room with a good shower(no bath).Clothes were hung on the side of the wall as there was no wardrobe,allowing more space.Being an older Holiday Inn Express there was no air-con.A small panel heater seemed quite adequate but the window could only be opened a few inches,so it might be uncomfortable in hot weather.The beds were very comfortable but only one chair is provided. Breakfast in the morning was adequate, typical of other H.I.E.'s.Dinner in the evening was quite poor but there are other options close by ,including a Harvester next door.Drinks and snacks are sold at Reception but I would not pay ¿¿2 for a 20p bottle of water. Overall the hotel was good value for money,clean and quite well maintained ,considering that it is a few years old now.Most of the staff are very pleasant and helpful, making it a good alternative to higher rated hotels.

Standard
Rooms comfortable and clean without being flash, a bit premier inn esque! Check in staff pleasant and efficient as usual. Breakfast however was very basic, scrambled eggs, beans, sausages, toast and small selection of fruit and cereals. If I stay again I will probably look to find a nearby cafe in the morning!My biggest bugbear though is having to pay for Internet. It's 2013, if coffees shops can give us free wifi for the price of a cup of coffee, then why can't hotels provide it for the significantly greater cost of a hotel room?!
