Fine for an overnight stay
Had an overnight stay here. Arrived at 9.55pm and asked then receptionist if the pub next door still served food. Was advised they stopped at 10pm but that if I wanted a takeaway, she would phone it in for me, which I did, and it arrived about 15 minutes later. Bedroom was clean and the bed was comfy - had a good sleep. The shower was nice and warm and powerful. Breakfast in the morning was adequate - usual cereals, the hot breakfast consisted of sausages, scrambled egg and beans - the egg was a bit too salty for my liking though. Dining area was a little cramped when I arrived as it was quite busy. Hotel is located in a quiet area just out of the town centre. There is a bus stop a couple of minutes walk away - cost was ¿¿1.30 to the bus station, or about ¿¿4 in a taxi.

If only...
...all HI expresses were like this. Have been coming to this hotel since 1999 and the standards have never dropped. Typical friendly Scots and I have yet to have an uncomfortable nights sleep. Hotel is in a fairly quite location and the restaurant next door (Fettykill Fox) makes this the best HI I've stayed in. Only one small point the shower pressure could be much better, but this seems to be the norm in all hotels at the moment.

Not what I would expect from a HIE.
If you want a good nights sleep forget this hotel. Doors slamming at all hours of the night. Very poor water pressure with the shower. The bed was to soft and bouncey Food is cheap option. Will use Premier Inn next time.

Better than Premier or Travelodge
Good size room, good size comfortable bed, selection of either firm or soft pillows, good size desk for working & even a comfortable chair to sit when working. Slight down side of only one socket outlet at the desk so have to choose between whether to charge laptop or phone, not both. Only one other socket outlet in the room & that's part of the kettle & tea making facility so is not practical to use. Nice touch of a grab handle in the shower & as I have one leg 3" shorter than other I'm always wary of slipping over in showers but this time had something to hold. Shame however that there's no heating in bathroom.

It's a Good Express!
I stay in HIEx the world over, and this one is still a shining example of how it should be. Comfortable room, excellent power shower, complimentary well rounded breakfast. There is also the advantage of the Fettykil Fox next door, which is a lovely pub to meet friends and have a nice meal.I am a regular at HIEx Glenrothes, and regard it as "old faithful". Yes, it's looking/feeling a bit tired now around the edges; but its more than made up for in service standards and smiles.Love that as a Royal/Platinum member I am simply handed my key without the formality of pre-auth or endless registration documents. Spot On!
