Good stop over hotel douth of Rome
The Idea Hotel is conveniently located approximately 30 minutes' driving time from Rome's Fiumicino airport. For this reason it tends to be used by groups flying into and out of Rome and staying for just one night. The hotel has contracts with mainly far eastern operators and during our stay we had groups of Chinese, Japanese and Indian guests in the hotel most weekday nights. Over the Saturday night the client¿¿le changed completely with families with (mainly) young children, including babes in arms, who had come to stay as the hotel was convenient for the local beaches less than four miles away. That said, it is located in an industrial/commercial part of Pomezia with nothing much around except one bar/restaurant within walking distance. The hotel was clean and modern and our group of 41 was accommodated across all floors. Rooms were of good size and well appointed - hair dryer, flat screen television and telephone - and the bedding was changed twice with clean towels every day. The hotel rooms were very quiet as there was no passing traffic outside and thick curtains provided the necessary black out as the sun rose early. However, there were some rooms which needed attention - bedside lights with no shades for example, and wallpaper starting to peel. The air conditioning was poor and seemed to be centrally controlled - altering the setting apparently made no difference to the temperature of the air and the only client control was to switch it on or off. The fan speed control didn't seem to work and there was no discernible change in the sound of the fan when adjusted.Rooms at the front of the hotel would gain solar heat during the day and would be over hot on return from a day's outing. Rooms at the back benefited from the morning sun but the rooms remained cool once the sun had moved round and simply opening the windows provided an entirely satisfactory environment. Those with front facing rooms would not have had that advantage and I strongly recommend asking for a room at the rear. The beds were well made and the rooms acceptably cleaned but a shower cap - in its box - appeared in the bathroom on Saturday for the first time. We assumed that different staff must have been employed to service the rooms over the weekend.Hotel Problems1 The lift was out of action from day 2 and remained so for the duration of our stay. Considering that the hotel has three upper floors, this should have been rectified immediately.2 The hotel had a light and airy dining room but there were no other public rooms where we could sit and meet as a group. The foyer had seating for approximately 20 people but that was all.3 The hotel had a bar in the foyer but it was never opened during the six nights we were there. This was a major problem as our group wanted drinks before and after the evening meals.4 During our stay the European Cup football championships were being broadcast but the television in the foyer simply showed the Italian version of Sky News. We never fully got to the bottom of why the matches - especially when Italy was playing - were not being shown.5 The hotel claims to be four star although the consensus view of our group was that it did not reach that standard. Hotel MealsThe buffet breakfast consisted of a choice of fruit juices, peaches and pears (from tins), cereals, ham, cheese, cakes, bread and apricot jam and, surprisingly, sweetcorn. There was always sufficient food with regular restocking. The main problem at breakfast was the lack of cutlery - particularly spoons - although I can confirm that one can eat peaches and pears with a knife and fork! The evening meals were supposed to be served at 7.30 pm and although we were always seated promptly it was often close to 8.00 pm before the first course was served. The first course was always a pasta dish and it was different each evening. The main course consisted of a meat or (on one occasion) a fish course with just one vegetable accompaniment. This was normal Ital

average hotel
we stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in september of this year, it was clean and breakfast was ok not lots of choice but you could always find something you liked, the bar was abit strange said it was 24 hours but was not always open and was not stocked up with much alcohol otherwise an ok hotel.

Very Very Average Typical Holiday inn
Like most Holiday Inns in Italy, this was acceptable accomodation, but there is a sad and outdated feeling to this hotel, nevertheless the staff were very helpful, despite closing the bar at 10.00 and having no facilites for room service. Take it if you can get a cheap rate, 50 EUR or so, but don't expect the Ritz Carlton. Visit Arriccia nearby for good food. DONT eat in the hotel.

good tranzit hotel
We decided to stay in Pomezia, as we arrived late at Fiumicino, and had to be in Pompeii the next day. As Pomezia is on the way, we decided to stay there. The Holiday Inn Pomezia was a good choice - easy to find, helpful staff, big room. On the negative side - the TV was not working, but as we arrived pretty late, that did not matter much. I would recommend this hotel as a good choice for a one night stop.

Good Retreat From the City
My experience at the Holiday Inn in Pomezia was very positive. The rooms were very clean and neat, with enough room to be comfortable. The bathroom had a very nice shower and the beds seemed to be quite comfortable. The staff were very helpful, although they did not speak a lot of english. The breakfast was good but I would eat elsewhere for dinner or lunch. The food at those meals was just okay. The area was fairly close to the main roads leading into Rome but far enough away to be very quiet at night. In summary, this hotel was reasonably priced; rooms very clean, and staff friendly and helpful.
