Generally Good Business Hotel
Stayed here for one night as I had an early morning flight from the nearby Birmingham Airport. The hotel is right in the centre of Solihull and is very well signposted so no problem finding it, check in was efficient, the receptionist was very friendly. The room was good with a comfortable bed and good sized bathroom.I ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food and service were both good, I then sat in the bar area for a couple of drinks, the drinks were a little on the expensive side and the service got a little slow as the bar filled up with people later in the evening but not painfully so.I had a good nights sleep and breakfast the next morning was good, buffet style with plenty of choice.Only minor gripes I had was both parking and internet were charged, Holiday Inn and the rest of their group really need to sort this out. If McDonalds and Starbucks can offer free internet why can't a chain of hotels with a large percentage of business customers also provide wireless internet for free

Not overly sophisticated but close to the center
Stayed there for one week on a business trip. I had an executive room which was very spacious. The furnishing was ok but could offer more comfort considering this was the highest room category. Small desk, low-cost armchair in a dark corner with no lamp. The bathroom was ok - no shower, just a slippery bathtub with a shower curtain. The room had also a fridge, a safe, and coffea/tea making facilities.The building is somewhat older and you can see the signs of wear. Car park in front of the building at extra charge. WiFi is available at extra charge (ca. 10-15 GBP per day) but was extremely slow. Decent gym with cardio and resistance training, an indoor pool and a sauna which was constantly out of order. Close to a nice shopping mall and close to the city.Overall: Would consider to come again but would also look for alternatives (such as the Village Hotel)

Great value Solihull
we had to visit Solihull on a family wedding and wet as a whole gang and took on 6 rooms.staff were friendly and helped were ever needed, rooms are good size and main thing got plenty of light ! hotel is a little tired but in a good location a few minutes walk from the centre.

Sunday Lunch At The Holiday Inn, Solihull
Oh dear......Had a family lunch here today for my mums 80th birthday. Not a pleasant experience & not one that i will be repeating any time soon.Started off badly with a 10 minute wait at the bar - no customers anywhere because the bar was unmanned.Lunch order taken by a surly & miserable waitress who clearly was not enjoying herself.Starter of Prawn Marie Rose (a prawn cocktail in other words as there was nothing else on the menu i liked the sound of) was horrible. Cold & almost frozen tasteless prawns served on a bed of unappealing lettuce of some sort.Drinks order was not taken until we had asked to place an order three times.Two bowls of tepid vegetables were expected to be shared between 14 people.....Chicken (a small portion it has to be said) served smothered in beef gravy!!!!Plates cleared from the table almost as soon as we had put our knives & forks down on to the plate - restaurant etiquette dictates that tables are only cleared once everyone on the table has finished eating.But not, it seems, at the Holiday Inn, Solihull.One other annoying thing - my young son was not feeling too good so all he wanted was a bowl of plain vanilla ice-cream.For which the Holiday Inn, Solihull attempted to charge us the princely sum of ¿¿9.99........Overall it was an unpleasant experience which i wont go through again.To be honest i have had better service at my local McDonalds!!!!Rating would no more than 4 out of 10.

Comfortable and welcoming
Although I am not generally a fan of large corporate establishments, finding them rather too bland in character, I was very pleased with my stay at the Holiday Inn. The room overlooking the lake was comfortable and well-appointed and enabled me to enjoy a good night's sleep, which is always important. I found the restaurant a little soulless in presentation and the atmosphere a little depressing, despite the excellent welcome and service given by staff. The food was reasonably good however, and I especially appreciated the poached eggs at breakfast. The swimming pool and leisure centre are an added bonus, which along with the very convenient location contribute to making this a very good place to stay for a couple of nights.
