Staff were friendly and helpful, room was very nice, good beds and beautiful bathroom. The shuttle service to/from airport was good. Restaurant and bar also very good. Would stay there again if we had a late in/early out flight.

Would not recommend
Where to begin? We stayed one night before our flight home, and if the rest of our trip wasn't so good, I might have let this stay bother me more. Here are the lowlights:1. Location - There is really nothing around this hotel. You have to walk 25minutes to the nearest shops (unless you count the gas station next door).2. Staff - Carlos at the front desk was very unhelpful. An elderly woman asked about a porter or someone to help her with her bags, and he pointed vaguely towards a stairwell which turned out to have a baggage trolley (my husband helped her load them). I asked for help with nearby restaurants/takeout/delivery; he said that he couldn't help us because the hotel has a restaurant. Really? So it's 5:30pm, restaurant opens at 8:30pm, I have a 3 year old and an early flight, and he couldn't help us at all. Thanks a lot. (We ended up getting sandwiches from a shop in the town.)3. Bed - springs were popping through the bed, so uncomfortable. Also, it was 30euros for a rollaway bed for my 3yo. All in all, I'd say this is a 2 star hotel (and a bad one at that) comparing to the other hotels I stayed at in Spain. It was cheap, I'll give them that, but not a nice way to end (or begin I should imagine), a holiday.

Outside misleading
The "industrial, concrete" outside of the hotel is misleading to the modern design inside. The room is comfortable with uniquely modern touches inside, especially the bathroom. The shuttle service is great to/from the airport. Bus 21 takes you easily to Las Ramblas.

Not recommended
Recently I stayed 1 night here before flying out if Barcelona. What I didn't know before I made this decision is that there are many quick inexpensive buses that run continuous from Plaza Catalyuna to the airport. It would have been much better to stay at my nice hotel there than to transfer the Best Western. This hotel is in an office park not that close to the airport. There are no restaurants nearby. We ended up having to pay 25¿¿¿ for a taxi to take us too the hotel as the shuttle wasn't running. The hotel was dirty, the pool was very cold in a poorly lighted basement and the workout room was a couple of machines sitting pool side. This area was closed 9pm-9am .... Really? So it's mainly open when no one is there? The hotel had a musty smell. We were originally sent to room that was already occupied and had to return to the front desk to get a new assignment. What else can I say, but don't stay there.

Barcelona, Spain 4/2013
I booked my last night of a week's vacation in Spain at the Best Western Alfa. It was close to the airport, easily accessible via free shuttle for an early morning flight. I arrived there after a long day of traveling back to Barcelona. I was tired and hungry and anxious to get a good night's rest after a whirlwind vacation. The Alfa was a perfect place to stay. The staff was so accommodating& professional, the rooms clean, the bed comfortable. It was a perfect end to a wonderful vacation. I would definitely recommend this hotel!
