Great stopover for a show in Sheffield
We went to see Bill Bailey at Sheffield City Hall and chose Copthorne as our base.The hotel is splendid and the staff very attentive. The room we had was spacious and comfortable. We didn't use the reataurant for our evening meal but did for breakfast. The usual selection of cerials, fruit, juices, Bakery, Full English (Politically corectly called "British") breakfast and specialities such as kippers or baegels to order. The only reservation I had was the location. Absolutely fantastic for the football stadium but there's a bit of a scary walk into the city centre, especially in the evening. On the up-side there are plenty of taxis and it was cheap to get friven back.Had a couple of problems in the room, the TV sound and picture were intermittent. Duty Manager came quickly and did solve the problem with a few wires dangling out. She would have moved us if another room was available but there wasn't. So gave us an on demand movie instead. Overall very pleased with our stay.

Great hotel
I've stayed in the Copthorne several times now and would highly recommend it as a great place to stay in Sheffield. The rooms are really spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Service has always been of a high standard, particularly in the restaurant. Food is really good quality, well cooked and beautifully presented. I've always enjoyed my stays here and this would now be my first choice. Only slight disadvantage is that it is slightly out of city centre so a taxi would be needed if you don't have your own transport. Also, if traffic noise bothers you ask for a room on the quiet side, I always do and have always managed to get one.

Comfortable Hotel
The room was comfortable, clean and of good standard. The breakfast was good and set me up for the day ahead. The hotel has free parking, which is a bonus in Sheffield. Reception efficeint and booking was easy, surprisingly the best price was through the hotels own website and was very competitive with the cheaper hotels nearer the station especially when the parking is added to them.The hotel is on the end of the stand at the Sheffield United ground and is not in exactly the nicest area of Sheffield. Public transport is not great as you have to walk a third of a mile to reach a regular bus service.All in all the stay was comfortable and good value for money.

Stay at Copthorne
We stayed for one night at the Copthorne Hotel, nice hotel, but things disappointed us.The room was comfortable but the lighting very poor. Bed was 2 singles put together.Breakfast was good, but little things like cereals were unmarked, so unless it you required cornflakes or rice crispies it was a bit of guess work. For a 4 * hotel we were surprised when we had a black mug on the table, on the internet it shows cups and saucers which we thought would be correct. The waiter that served us was a very nice friendly guy but his Black Jacket was full of what looked like white food stains all around the pockets which was at eye level when he was serving the tea and coffee, not a nice site before Breakfast. On the table was a single flower in a vase a Gerbera which was dead and drooped over. NOT what we expect 4* to be.

Excellent business hotel
Have stayed here for a couple of trips while working in Sheffield. It's located right next to the Sheffield United ground on Bramall Lane, so transport links are great and there's sufficient free parking on site. There's free Internet in every room (via LAN cable), more than sufficient wardrobe and drawer space, good lighting, and the beds are comfy. Great choice for business travellers.Room prices are reasonable. But the food, while good, is expensive for the quantity given.
