Excellent Location
We stayed for 4 nights. Based on review comments here we booked a superior room for extra space.. Got the extra space but furniture eg chairs and table to be able to sit and relax in late afternoon with a glass.....strange. We were told they were throwing the old furniture away.The wifi did not work in our room, so we were the noisy Australians typing and skyping from the stairs. The hotel did credit us back some money for this inconvenience.Service good, rooms clean location excellent; close to beach, old city and town centre.

Mixed Experience
It's difficult to review this hotel. Our first had a small balcony and appeared fine on arrival. Problems: 1- The air-conditioning unit was set properly for spring and summer, so the unit would not produce cool air. 2- There was a very loud party at a club until 5am (I found out from the doorman that that happens a couple times a week and sometimes the police are called). 3- Once we fell to sleep after the party noise, the hotel's fire alarm went off and woke us up at about 5:30 !We had prepaid for the hotel, so we couldn't take the easy route and check out. Instead we nicely asked for another room, explained the reasons, and were upgraded to a similar room, with a large balcony, on a higher floor on a different side of the building, with air-conditioning. They get extra points for accommodating us and resolving our problems very nicely. No extra fees involved. Based on that experience, I give this hotel outstanding ratings. If I were rating it on our first night only it would fail miserably. Maybe it was an off night. We had stayed here a few years ago and were very happy with it then too.

Fabulous location, but not a 4 star
The location of the hotel is excellent, just off Place Massena. The main shopping street (Jean de Medecin) is 2 minutes away, the old town is about 3 minutes away and you can walk to Promenade des Anglais in 5 minutes. The hotel itself has a flashy lobby and equally flashy corridors, but the rooms don't match this at all. Our bathroom was quite new and nice, but the room was not up to the same standard. The furniture was old and worn. The Wi-Fi was free, but worked poorly in our room. Breakfast was satisfactory but had no variation during our stay. We could stay here again, but would probably try another hotel in the same area.

Location location
If you want location location this is for you, and from the impressive entrance with so attentive staff a great hotel. We had room 226, no view as it was round the back, but I am not there to sit in the room. A large room , spotlessly clean and all the facilities you need. Ask for this room, much larger than most of the others Breakfast was amazing, so much choiceBest hotel for a while

Very Good Short Break
Stayed at the Hotel Massena for 3 nights. The hotel is very well situated just off Massena Square and a short walk to the sea front, old town and the shopping area. The hotel staff were very good, helpful and extremely pleasant. We were upgraded for the 2nd and 3rd night to a much larger room with a newer bathroom (complimentary). Both rooms had very large beds, tea and coffee and safe. Reception area very attractive.The bus to Monacco was a bargain one euro. Restaurant Acciardo Rue Droite in the old town was very good and represented very good value. Staff extremely pleasant I would recommend booking in advance.
