Total lack of customer service, and surely a safety and security risk to customers staying at the hotel!
Booked the hotel for the 21st of April after our return from holiday. Before making the booking we contacted the hotel to check if there was 24 hour check in as we would be arriving around 1am. We were told not to worry as there was someone on reception 24 hrs and it wouldnt be a problem. Very dissapointed that when we arrived we had to wait between 30 - 40 minutes before someone came to reception.we rang the night service bell, rang the hotel main phone line and walked all around the ground floor of the hotel without seeing anybody. When someone did eventually turn up there was no proper apology and customer service skills were non exsistent. When we started complaining she called the person that seemed to be in charge who also lacked customer skills and only gave us the excuse that they hadn't been notified of our late arrival, again no proper apology. By this time, after just having coming off a long flight, we were exasperated and exhausted. To think they could leave the reception like that for over half an hour, allowing anyone to walk in from the street and access the computers, card machines, customer details, room keys, etc if they so wished. A high safety and security risk I would have thought for management to look into! We cannot comment on the overall hotel experience at Ramada Solihull as we demanded a full refund and did not stay. We found a lovely Premier Inn not far away instead.

Afternoon Tea
We bought a half price voucher for afternoon tea for 2. We booked by phone 2 weeks in advance. They did find our reservation after a moment or twos hesitation. We were shown to a corner table in the restaurant with a view of the bowling green.Our tea was brought without any great fanfare and with our chosen coffee not tea.The sandwiches were ham and red currant jelly, egg and smoked salmon. Fine, though I thought the bread was a little dry. There was then some plain sponge and fruit cake, mini Victoria sponge and a strawberry marshmallow skewer. The scones with clotted cream and jam were warm - they were very good.Service was polite but perfunctory. There were only 2 others taking tea, so the atmosphere was flat. Other staff were coming in and out of the restaurant and chatting. It felt like a very flat slow day.Overall we felt it represented just about value for money for what we paid - for the correct price - NO!!!!!

OK
We booked a family room for 3 adults for a friends 40th birthday. When we booked the hotel we specifically asked for a twin room with an extra bed. When we arrived we got a double bed and an extra bed - we did mention at reception - however the response was - maybe you got moved to a bigger room. Not sure we wanted a bigger room - just three beds! Thankfully - we are all good friends so we figured we would just make do. However, knowing full well the room was for three adults - we had to ask for extra cups etc, extra duvets (which arrived without a cover). The room was fine and not too hot, however the overhead light didn't work and the shower leaked terribly - soaking the bathroom floor (even though checked shower curtain was in the right place). Staff were helpful but didn't really go out of their way to sort the room out. Breakfast was good - had to ask for hot food to be replenished in the buffet - but apart from that was tasty.

Not impressed...
Stayed here as it is classed as a "Birmingham Airport" hotel on a number of booking websites, it is about 6 miles away. But anyway, stayed one night but the experience was let down by the temperature in the room! To say it was hot is an understatement, there was no air-conditioning, the radiator was switched off but still it was stuffy, humid and around 90 degrees! Had to leave the window wide open all night to get cool air in, even left the fridge door open for an hour to try and cool it down (a-la Friends!)Might seem like a trivial observation but as I was only staying there to get some sleep before a 5am flight the next day, the few hours I spent lying on top of the bed listening to the traffic, sweating, etc. did impact my impression. Won't be staying again and to be honest I would have been more comfortable sleeping in my car.

Amazing staff
Held my birthday party at the hotel. It was brilliant. Everyone commented on the food and how hot it was when served. The staff were amazing from the bar and serving staff in the function to the reception and staff in the dining room for breakfast. Although things did runout at breakfast when it got busy, these were immediately replaced with fresh servings, which I would prefer to large quantities being there for a long time.Reception staff were great, remembered your name, communication between staff and departments was exceptional and not something you often experience.As a previous reviewer noted , all staff seemed to be clearly committed to their job and the hotel and ensuring great customer experience.
