Due redecoration?
Stopped for several nights at the Hotel. It is easy to find and has a very spacious ground floor bar come eating area. The room was a good size with a double and a single bed in it. Flat screen TV (as you'd expect these days), tea and coffee (no biscuit). Shower over bath with the normal toiletries provided. The bed was very comfortable and cleaned each day. What let the hotel down were the holes in the carpet, hole in the net curtain (an old cigarette burn?) and the look that it was overdue a paint.

OK, for a night...
Stayed here for one night for business. Hotel was OK, it¿¿¿s a little outdated and dreary, they have updated the bedding to make it appear ¿¿¿modern¿¿¿, but the fact is, it hasn¿¿¿t been renovated for quite a while. The closet has ancient door handles on, there¿¿¿s a trouser press as well as a very old hairdryer. The bathroom is small, tatty at the edges, and mine had a bit of a funky smell to it to. My night¿¿¿s sleep wasn¿¿¿t too good either, not because of noise. The duvet was too thick, I was going from hot to cold! The location is outside the city centre, and is about a 20min walk or a 3 min ¿¿1.90 bus ride. Next time, I would choose a hotel in the city centre. The front desk, were very good about holding my luggage for me prior to check-in, and after check-out too. Though when I asked about the buses, their knowledge wasn¿¿¿t good. Didn¿¿¿t have breakfast, so can¿¿¿t comment regarding that.

Very tired and dated
Another business trip, and I chose this hotel due to its reasonable price and proximity to the city centre. I took advantage (!) of an internet offer which offered free parking, free wifi and breakfast included. Upon arrival, I was greeted (!) by a miserable looking Indian chap on reception, who really looked like he didn't want to be there. The reception and surroundings look very 1970s, and has been well trodden over the years. The brown carpet was stretched in many of the communal areas, and could pose a trip hazard. I was put into a ground floor room, and make sure that if you too take a ground floor room, you shut the curtains, as I saw several people walk straight past the window outside. The room, like the public areas was very tired. I entered the room from a dreary 70s passageway behind reception, noticing polystyrene tiles on the ceiling (all uneven and out of place) and a fire exit sign on the ceiling which looked like someone had tried (partially successfully) to remove. The room was ok, nothing smart, but nothing objectionable. The bathroom, however, was not good. Clearly the enamel bath had sustained some damage over the years, and the area where the floors meet the walls was filthy. The door frame looked like someone had sustained a wound and the blood had been transferred to the door frame. Really not good. On the positive side, staff at breakfast were very helpful and courteous, and the food I did try was very nice. Caution - if you do come down at 8.30 for breakfast, beware the hoards of OAP coach trippers.

Charity Night
My company recently held a charity quiz night in the Wellington Park and it was a great success. The management and staff were most helpful and the food was great. The room was set up exactly as we had requested. This is the 2nd time we have used this venue and we will certainly return.

Sneaky night away from the kids
My wife and I decided we needed a Saturday night off and took 2 of our friends to this hotel. We phoned round a few places and got a good deal on evening meal, bed & breakfast. We were upgraded on arrival to an executive room which had an upstairs. This was only an office not a jacuzzi unfortunately! The rooms were perfect and well equipped with everything you would expect including a IPhone/IPod radio (take note other higher graded hotels because this should be the norm!) We went down for dinner and we were the only table in the restaurant! This was at 8pm so prime time I thought. There was a band setting up out in the bar and a few tables taken in the bar but it was very absurdly quiet. We left after dinner at 10 ish and went to the Eg and then the Bot as there was not much happening.Breakfast in the morning was average with a buffet style. The staff were attentive and the food was good. A few school trips seemed to be the main customers.
