Ok but not getting champagne on a beer budget
This was our 2nd stay, the first being about a year ago. The location is very convenient, close to family we were visiting. I had asked for a room like we had last year on one of the renovated upper floors but none was available. We had a room on the 9th floor which was old looking but turned out to be ok. The bed was comfortable, A/C fairly quiet, and bathroom clean and presentable. Hot water took some time to come up but once it did, it stayed hot. For NYC the hotel is a decent value compared to the much higher costs of better hotels. But there are trade-offs you should be aware of. The hotel is run down looking. Hall carpet torn here and there, past water leaks evident, walls heavily scuffed and patched up in places. TV had just a few over the air channels with grainy pictures. Service is spotty: In our 4 day stay we always had a different assortment and number of towel types each day. We made do with that but one day we only got 2 bath towels, no hand towels or washcloths. We had to ask for them - twice - but did get them eventually. Again, the room itself was clean and comfortable and a considerable savings over other NYC hotels. Just know that you are not getting champagne on a beer budget and you'll be fine.

I got a nice hotel room on the top floor,it was very tidy and big enough. The personal was friendly and helpful, the subway station was very near the hotel. Unfortunately there was no restaurant in the hotel, but opposite of it was a cafe, where had my early breakfast.

Great value for the money
Very nice hotel with regards to the price versus the location. Staff is friendly and can help with the luggage storage as well as arranging the transport etc. Easily accesssible - few meters away from the public transport.

Room more like a 4 star
We are staying in one of the newer renovated rooms on the 13th floor and it is worth the extra money to do so. Our room is immaculate with a huge bed and good shower in the bathroom. The tiling in the bathroom and every part of the room and bathroom looks brand new, all white and very clean. And we are fussy people! We have definitely stayed in worse 4 star hotels than this! The lift is a bit rickety and the coridoors aren't that inviting but our large bright clean bedroom is perfect and for the price we can't compain! Room is 1303.

Most comfortable bed so far
The Hotel is just on the corner of 94th street onto Broadway, though do not think it is in the middle of the action, as it is a good 4 km from dowtown humdrum. This is a good base if you want to be somewhere quiet to relax after a hard day sight seeing. Central park is 1km east. The Metro line 1,2,3,4, is just on the corner so a metro card is a good addition.There is no bar or relaxing area, but the a 40inch TV connects you with the Newyork atmosphere.The draw backs are, 4 6 person lifts, one which broke down frequently, a long wait to got to any floor, if you are on the 11,12, floors then this can become tiresome. Hot water is tepid! The King bedroom was well equiped, and very clean.Staff though are friendly, and helpfull. Breakfast can be bought across the road or opposite for around $5.00.Tip: Buy a 7 day unlimited Metro travel card $30. and that will help your legs.
