Good hotel, Needs a little updating, is in a residential area though
We've just returned from a relaxing but tiring short break in Rome.My wife booked the hotel through Expedia - all went well. The Transfer to the hotel was easily found at the airport and we arrived at the hotel soon after.On arrival it is a little daunting to see the big iron gates, though on climbing the stairs we found a very pleasant terrace.On reception was Alessandro - who is a gem for the hotel. He explained everything, booked us on the shuttle service to and from the hotel for the next day.Gennaro on breakfast was full of life and beans - made a good coffee too.We ate in the restaurant that night and it seemed a little confusing to us. Perhaps we need more Italian experience. The pasta came and was lacking meat that it promised and my wife's Carbonnara was cracker dry though well seasoned. We were informed that this is how is it always served.We had a good sized room on the 4th floor, fabric wall coverings were interesting. Bathrooms were good, high pressure shower was great.View from the balcony was just over some shrub ground which was ok, but not glamorous.breakfast was good as others have said, 6.30-10 is very generous. In fact on sunday we hung around and it was nearly 10.30 before we left and it was still all available to us.The shuttle into town was good, though get in early to book it otherwise the slots quickly fill up.as it is a residential area - there is only 1 restaurant around within walking distance. Thankfully it was excellent.Will we return - Rome - possibly - though to this hotel - not sure as it was that bit too far away. Though for the price v location it is a trade off. Roughly 10-13 Euros from town to the hotel. perhaps they could put on a "night out shuttle". is it a 4 star - no, but it is a good 3-star.

Fantastic hotel with great staff
We visited Rome to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Staying at the Hotel dei Massimi really enhance the experience of a fabulous city. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, giving advice on when and where to visit, transport ideas and even short lessons in Italian! The rooms and linen was cleaned daily by really nice people. The real star for us was Gennaro who kept breakfast a time to look forward to. Nothing was too much for him. He is a real asset to the hotel. Don't forget ask to sample his special bread. He added to our experience or Rome and the Hotel.Thanks GennaroGeoff and Veronica King

Slightly dated, but definitely would return!
My family and I stayed here for 6 nights in February for my dad's 50th birthday. The hotel was a bit of a trek from the local station as it was mostly uphill, so a bit of a struggle with all the bags etc. It was about a 15 minute walk. The rooms are slightly dated and I personally found the bed to be very hard, however, they were impeccably clean. All staff were extremely friendly and there was a very useful shuttle service to and from the city centre. We didn't experiment with the local buses at all because of this. The trip out in the morning was always brilliant - when we were returning in the evening, we often had to wait over by 10-15 minutes, but the Rome traffic at that time in the evening was sometimes unpredictable. It was brilliant for being a complimentary service. On our last day, the restaurant staff did their best to get us anything we needed for breakfast - not all the bits were ready as we were down very early, but the gentleman in the restaurant asked if there was anything he could get us - on or off the menu! I would definitely stay in this hotel again if I was to return to Rome - far enough away to be quiet and inexpensive, but close enough to commute into the city daily. Thanks for the great stay!!

Rome visit
We have recently spent 5 days celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary at this hotel.We found the staff friendly and very helpful.The shuttle bus was very handy as the hotel was out of the way from Romes attractions.The room was very clean and the towels were changed every day.We must mention Alessandro at reception for his help and cheerfulness , nothing was a problem to him and he would spend time answering all our queries in perfect English.We must also mention Benny in the restaurant again for his excellent service.A very special thank you to Gennaro at breakfast time for his cheerfulness and willingness to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We would not hesitate to stay at this hotel the next time we come to Rome and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

Another Fantastic stay
Well what can I say, I emailed the hotel the day we were travelling to book our place on the shuttle bus the next day, we arrived at the hotel 10 30 pm went to room then popped to bar had a few drinks. Breakfast was great again spoilt for choice Gennaro was as helpful as ever can't fault any of the staff as they will go out of there way to help. We took the shuttle into Rome and got a Roma pass to use over the three days this is ¿¿30 euros but gets you into Colleseum and Forum free without waiting, this can also be used on all public transport bus and metro systems which we used. The only propblem we had was the heavy rain on the sunday night, so we did take a taxi back to hotel from central Rome which cost 13 euros which wasn't to bad at all. I would recommend this hotel to anyone is is in a residential area but with transport into Rome or Taxi for 13 euros you can't moan.
