I stayed here for a week on a trip for work which was just around the corner. The location is ideal in terms of access to transport and tourist areas. The breakfast was decent, the staff very kind and friendly, and the room was very clean. However, I found the size of the room and more importantly the shower to be quite difficult to move around in. Not ideal for anyone who is taller and/or larger than average.

I've stayed here twice now on work trips and both times i've had a good experience. I haven't stayed there for scenic window views, plush hotel furnishings or a romanitc setting but more ofr functionality, location, cost and easy of access to the rest of Paris. So it suited my needs very well.Pros:Good value room priceCentral LocationStaff are super helpful and friendly (i needed a doctor to visit me and they made calls arranged the whole thing and reassured me he was on his way)Easy to get to Gare Nord on the metroCons:Breakfast seems expensive but i feel like that with just about every european hotel i've ever stayed in.Other:Basic facilitiesPigale is a slightly seedy area but no more than other popular seedy areas in big cities, it is also very close to montmatreI'll stay there again next time i go to Paris.

This hotel gets some mixed reviews but here is mine. Have just returned from Paris my first time, I had heard this hotel was plonk in the middle of the 'red light' area which it was, but it wasn't in your face some sex shops around but no one bothered you, Right next to the famous Moulin Rouge and never heard anyone say how that was in the red light area so give the hotel a break ! The area was vibrant lots of really nice cafes,, bars and the metro. Found an amazing little restaurant called 'Marmite' of all names, but French Onion Soup to die for and Salads that go on forever, plu service with a smile .. delicious.and not too harsh on your pocket, Back to hotel... Staff friendly greeted with a smile, during our stay we must have asked the lady at reception a hundred and one questions, directions you name it we asked it .. and she answered them all with a smile, we even borrowed from her, corkscrew and scissors bless. Our room was comfortable, warm, the water was always hot, shower was easy to use, the bedding was clean and towels changed everyday. The breakfast was continental served on the ground floor at the side and to the back of reception,very polite and smiling waitress, choice to two fruit drinks, bread rolls, Danish pastry and croissants plus cereal, cheeses and jams and yoghurt. 24 hrs serviced which was good as we found an amazing Irish Bar just down the road near Moulin Rouge called Corcoran's check it out but note that after 1.00 am they put up their drinks prices by a euro.. If I was to go to Paris again for a few days then yes I would stay here no problem.

Sitting in room no. 16 right now writing this review. There is just too much noise here. Everytime someone flush the toilet /takes shower in rooms above mine i can hear waterfall coming down thru my bathroom wich is really tiny also. Paper tin walls can't protect me from hearing cell phones ringing and since iam on the 1st floor there is every couple minutes noise from the subway (but hey! at least the station is near). Wifi that I had to pay 10¿¿¿ for (!!) is quite slow, had troubles to make skype video call. The room itself is just basic, old furniture, but clean I have to say. I gues the area can make up for all the bad here, just round the corner from moullin rouge, near montmarte, metro connection to whole paris right around the corner as well, lots of restaurants, supermarkets...also sexshops, this area seems quite dodgy to me, had bad experience here on one of my previous visits around here...but hey if youre on budget and want to stay in city this might be your choice..I did not book this hotel for myself.

We stayed there for two nights and found it very convenient for exploring Paris with a metro stop 2-3 minutes walk away. It is fairly clean though very basic & dated and the staff were ok. We were first put in what was clearly a smoking room, when I went downstairs and asked them if please could we move a non-smoking room they were happy to assist - as they were when we had trouble with a delayed taxi upon departure. The room was tiny, but then it is Paris, the opening windows were a big plus (quiet at night with the windows closed). It's ok for its price point in Paris.The area is on the edge of the red light district but it's also a residential area for families and young couples; there are all types of folk around. I felt safe on the main streets late at night - you don't need to venture down alleys to get to this hotel. Being residential there are supermarkets and chemists closeby, a few very fine wine stores and many restaurants. We had an excellent lebanese meal a few minutes walk away. I'd say if you're used to city living with all its ethnicity, wild side and colour then you'll be ok.
