I like old hotels. If they are well maintained and well managed, they offer more than newly built ones. They have larger rooms, higher ceilings, old silver cutlery, mostly a very central location and probably a garden with old beautiful trees. Hotel Savoy has them all, and a very friendly service. The restaurant offers excellent food, the breakfast is fabulous.Even if you are no smoker, you have to visit the cigar bar. Wood panel walls, chesterfield couches and that wonderful smell of cuban tobacco will carry you away as you enjoy your cocktail.

Terrific hotel, great food
Delighted with this hotel for a long weekend. We arrived very early on the Friday but they managed to prepare a room for us on the 3rd floor. Staff very friendly and helpful; room super clean. The restaurant was atmospheric with great food (we asked for a recommendation of wine with our dishes and were offered a very good choice, at a very reasonable price). Having dined there the first evening, we decided to it again for the second also. There is a slight smell of cigar smoke in the lobby/common areas, but by no means overwhelming or unpleasant (contrary to what was suggested in other reviews) and it didn't permeate into our room. An additional nice touch was the staff at the front desk recognising us each time we came by and we came to collect our bags at the end.

Nice hotel, we got a good deal as well!Very nice location in the city center, close to multiple Metro Stations and S-Train stations.We got the upgraded room, with a canopy bed. Well worth the extra money.

Weekend Break
Stayed at the Savoy for three nights in April. Excellent room and staff, we will be back.Loved everything about Berlin, friendly people, great food and drink.Try a drink at Klo , it is an experience.

A long-time favourite
I've been staying at the Savoy since 2000, both on business and pleasure trips to my beloved Berlin, and it hasn't changed at all I'm pleased to say. The rooms are all delightful (once you reacquaint yourself with the technique of sleeping in a "split bed"!), the breakfast is in my wife's opinion the best in Europe, and the cigar bar is a late-night pleasure. The location, just off the Kurfurstendamm, handy for the U-Bahn and also a few minutes' walk from Savignyplatz is perfect. Apart from one annoyance (below) I can't recommend it highly enough. The annoyance is that there used to be a PC and printer in reception which allowed guests to, amongst other tasks, check in online for flights and print boarding passes; this facility has been replaced by ipads securely attached to a pillar at a height that requires someone of my height (1.85m) to either kneel down or bend almost double to use, and in order to print anything the document has to be emailed to the receptionist; it seems a pointless facility to offer.
