Great Location!
This was our second stay at the Hotel Opera. On our first visit our son was travelling with us so we had a triple room which was very spacious. This time we went as a couple and the room seemed quite small but still would give it a good review as we only used it to rest/sleep. Clean and the King-size bed is HUGE so that it takes up most of the room. If you have a lot of luggage, this may pose a problem. One source of annoyance, our room (#404) was located on a side street where the glass recycling bin was located and we were woken up every night by people emptying their glass bottles into the bin...quite loud). The hotel itself is in a great location & the staff was helpful and friendly. Very easy to get to via Renfre train and the Metro. Note: be careful on the Metro, especially when it is crowded. My husband's cell phone was stolen out of his front pocket. Would recommend taking a taxi to your hotel if you have luggage and several items to keep track of.) The Metro stop is very close and there is also a Hop On Hop Off stop in the same Square where the Metro stop is located. We would stay here again when visiting Mardrid just for the convenience alone.

The main advantage: a good location
Hotel was quiet and seemed safety, breakfast was good. Location in the centre of the city was excellent. The room was quite suitable for a short stay except of the following notes¿¿¿despite staying in the room facing to the side street there is a noise from outside in the night ¿¿¿ better windows can be expected in the hotel of 4 and higher stars situated in the centre of busy city¿¿¿the air blowing through the pipes of the hotel air conditioning makes much noise even when it is switched off in the room ¿¿¿in the bathroom there is a mildew smell probably coming from a ventilator shaft

Very welcoming staff
Booked a jaquzzi room as a surprise for my husbands 40th birthday- the staff went beond duties to make him feel very special, so top marks to them! The room it's self was very pleasant- we stayed in 804 which had spectacular double views, in one direction you look down over the theter square and the other you can see the royal palace. The room was a bit on the small size but the terrece makes up for that, weather permitting.Location was perfect and not much noise heard from up the top of the hotel.A lovely clean friendly hotel- would stay again

Room with terasse and Jacuzzi , very poor, old but good location
old in any way : they tried to make the room look newer . furniture are old table with the minibar shabby damaged all over , Minibar door not closing right, bathroom: door from shower not closing good water is running all over the bathroom , mirrors are mounted in places where you can not really use it (wrong light) Jacuzzi very old model , not proper cleaned ,after switching it on all the old dark brown dirt which was in the system came out, and this not only 1 time all 3 times we tried to use it. Very thin walls ,luckily the wall was able to block the smell from the neighbor`s bathroom because the sound it could not. Breakfast was horrible only the fresh orange juice was good , coffee is not worthy to be called coffee. Please do not think about using the Sauna on the roof top nearly no place to re-dress and very little shower. the sauna itself the glass window and glass roof is cracked. the wooden floor looks like there are every day people with dirty shoes walking through .the maximum temp. was in our case 70 degress C. only one chair in double room , no coffee or tea maker in the room and no glasses.

Great location but so so noisy
Staff very pleasant, my room was tiny the bathroom was bigger! The location is really central and close to Palace but it was almost impossible to get a restful nights sleep, and yes it is right in the heart of things but unfortunately the construction and in particular poor sound insulation of the hotel is a real problem. Came home with more than just luggage bags and no amount of eye cream would rescue you when staying here. Room was on 6th floor and hate to think what the lower floors are like. I heard another English couple at breakfast complaining that they had not slept a wink either and she was wearing sun glasses! At the weekend Madrid parties till gone 5am! so overall nice staff, nice decor, but just too noisy so if you value some sleep choose a chain like Melia or similar!
