Presidential Suite with jacuzzi tub
From my understanding there are 3 of these suites in the hotel. It's the only room I've stayed in and while there were some mediocre things about it, let me explain the 4 stars...they're almost all in the bathroom...The room has a seating area (pull out sofa, hanging wall flatscreen (on the smaller side), small bar area (fridge, microwave, coffee maker, sink), sliding door to balcony (small but you can walk out on it), 2 sitting chairs, desk with office chair, double doors into the bedroom that are glass so you can see into the bedroom from the living room. The balcony door was broken in the room I stayed in so I didn't go on the balcony but I also didn't care much because the view was mediocre. Now the COOL stuff...The bedroom has 2 accordion wooden windows that lead into the bathroom. When you open them, on the other side is a 2 seater full Jacuzzi. Yes, it's a tub, but it's really a hot tub in your room. My husband and I went downtown to stay and relax but go to eat and hang out on the riverwalk and ended up sitting in the Jacuzzi talking away most of the night because it was so relaxing. The bathroom is completely re finished and the shower has a rain shower head (hangs from ceiling) as well as a detachable on the wall shower head (I believe it actually had 2). It's a walk in shower and was more than large enough for both of us when we were getting ready. We walked to the Riverwalk and back which has a shopping mall, plenty of restaurants, and a plethora of bars for the night out.

Loved It!! AND Great Price for Prime Location!
When looking for a hotel on the Riverwalk while on the internet, we came across this hotel. We immediately went on to Trip Advisor to see reviews. Although the rating was varied, we decided to take a chance with the hotel based on price and location. We were pleasantly surprised and loved the quirkiness of the hotel. Although it isn't in the busy part of the riverwalk, it is within a short walking distance from all the action which was fine by us. We're older, and well, quite boring. This quiet hotel is right by the Law Courts and only 1/2 block from La Villita. When booking, we decided to get the "riverwalk" view out your window which basically meant that you just cranked down your neck from your window and saw the water below. Really, nothing to brag about, but nice enough to see the Tower of the Americas outside our window. Our hotel room was nice and although beds were small (for some reason, only booked double beds, rather than queen!), they were comfortable. The d¿¿cor of the hotel was colorful and eclectic - very funky and so interesting to see all the different art. They took a risk doing something out of the ordinary from a chain hotel (boring d¿¿cor), and really made it uniquely special and pleasing to the eye. Staff was friendly and helpful, except when needing to check out at 6:30 in the morning - the desk clerk was too busy being on his cell phone and ignored me for quite a while until I bluntly had to say that I had to leave to catch a plane. He then tried to talk to the person on the phone and ask me questions to do the paperwork - which he kept getting mixed up. One of the maintenance crew came up and started to talk with me - I think he felt bad for the service that he was witnessing. Finally, this person got off the phone and was able to concentrate on just looking after me after he clearly knew I was losing patience. I actually think this was a cultural thing (being dismissive to women), rather than what the hotel's expectation was. That was the only negative thing staff-wise that I encountered as the rest of the staff members were helpful and friendly. They advertise Wi-Fi in the hotel rooms. This proved to be incorrect as I could not get a signal despite asking a few times about it. After inquiring, they told me that they were working on upgrading the system and right now it isn't working properly. Then.... don't advertise that there is Wi-Fi in the rooms!! Having access to Wi-Fi was another factor of choice when booking this hotel - a place where we could use the internet in our room. We were able to use our tablet around the pool area and downstairs in the lobby though. We absolutely loved the pool area which is in the middle of the hotel (courtyard). It was wonderful to go down and have our "happy hour" by the pool. One thing we would have liked to see was to have towels available by the pool (they said there was some, but there wasn't). The 1st night we stayed in the hotel, we parked our car across the street for $10.00 for 24 hours which was a great price. The next day, we came out of the hotel to see the parking lot so full that there were vehicles blocking ours. The lot guy did come soon to move vehicles around so that we could get ours out. We decided the next night though to park in the hotel because of the fact that we needed to make sure we left for the airport at a specific time the next morning. It was quite interesting to see how the parkade worked.......you depend on a light to tell you that it is your turn to go up (or down) and also depend on others to follow this system because there is only one lane that takes you up and down. A little scary, but obviously has worked well for years and years. I used the excersize gym that is on the lower level of the hotel. They really have to throw out all the machines that are in there because they are so well worn, that each one wasn't working properly. The tv didn't work on one, but on another - the tv worked, but the machine didn't. The bike

disappointed
We knew we wanted to be near the riverwalk. After searching the web looking at the one line photos we decided to book this room two double bed with river view. Ok let's begin parking is not included in this 160.00 price you pay a additional 14.99 in order to park at the hotel. Riverview room did not have a balcony. You did see the river but not the riverwalk which the view was not horrible you did have a walk a bit to the riverwalk which was not a big deal. The room was not good the beds were old uncomfortable you could feel the springs. I read so many people saying the beds were comfortable they must be in a special room. The room had' one small trash can non in bathroom. Called for blanket and I was told I would have to come get it at the desk. Very outdated. The photo of the woman in the tub looking out is a joke. Bathroom is small and the tub had rust in it. Positives pool, food, and bar was nice. Very over priced 80.00 a night would be too much.

Worried at first then pleasantly relieved
The title says it all. When we went up the parking garage and unloaded the car, I started to worry. Something just didn't feel right with the decor, overpainting, strange colors...Anyway, all was relieved when I opened the door to my room. All I can say is WOW. Such high end amenities for such a low price downtown San Antonio! No, it wasn't on the riverwalk but its just one block away. The bar downstairs was great with a very friendly bartender who was very helpful with anything we asked of her. I only stayed one night because the original hotel I booked was full on this day and I didn't want to miss my son's airmans run. Although, we moved to the gunter sheraton the next day (also a very nice hotel), I wish it had these bathrooms, very roomy! And by the way, great big comfy beds and huge HD TV! I will be back!

Decent hotel, very close to the Riverwalk
Overall, we were pretty happy with this hotel. It was very clean (which is my main concern at any hotel) and beautiful. We did have a few issues. The AC in our room didn't work properly. It was FREEZING. They sent a maintenance guy up to fix it and it seemed fine for a while. We eventually just turned it off. It was chilly even with it off. The WIFI wouldn't work about 90% of the time. This wasn't a huge deal, since we had our phones, but it was hard to search for stuff on our phones rather than laptops. The front desk staff was very friendly. The hotel is close to the Riverwalk and much cheaper than the hotels actually on the Riverwalk.
