The accommodation is first rate. Ron and Gay could not be more welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are delicious and Ron will cook you breakfast however early you have to leave. They also serve dinner which is very good value. A further nice touch is the honesty bar.

A friend and I stayed in seperate rooms the weekend of the Stafford Motorcycle Show, 27th/28th April 2013 and couldn't have been welcomed more to this very luxurious surroundings, the rooms were excellent, the decor throughout was impecable and food was delicious, thankyou to Ron & Gay we look forward to our next stay with you both

We stayed in April for one night. It was a Friday night and we happened to be the only guests booked in. This meant that lights were turned off in parts of the hotel to save energy, which was a shame as I would have loved to explore this huge, beautiful-looking house a bit - but we were much obliged that the bar and restaurant areas were kept open for us. Our room was on the second floor and was cosy and well-presented. There were little touches, like the rooms being named for the children who used to live in them and family photos still scattered around, which make it feel home-like. The huge amount of detail in the guest information folders (about the house and the local area) spoke volumes to me about the passion the hosts have for what they do. We had dinner and breakfast at the house which were both good quality but fairly standard and unimaginative. However one thing I absolutely could not fault was the service. Ron was attentive and friendly throughout our stay and any request was swiftly met. We were made to feel very welcome and had a pleasant stay overall.

Ron and Gay are superb hosts warm, welcoming, friendly very personable who run an excellent house where nothing is too much for them. If you are looking for a rural tastefully presented five star guest house, clean, cosy (the bed in the four poster room was excellent) Colton House is the place! Previous positive comments regarding Ron's breakfast were spot on. My only disappointment which is nothing to do with Ron and Gay but due to the booking confirmation not being properly checked what was meant to be a two night night stay was only one! Thank you Ron, Gay and the other members of staff who were just as welcoming and friendly for a memorable stay and we will definitely visit again! Book direct as Gay is very helpful in helping you choosing the right room!

This is a beautiful, family house. Every, superbly clean, room is individually decorated to an exacting standard. The meals are delicious ¿¿¿ especially the award winning breakfasts ¿¿¿ and the welcome from Ron and Gay is above and beyond anything you would get anywhere else.One of my absolute favourite touches - and typical of Colton House - is the jug of milk in the fridge in the room ¿¿¿ so much better than the mini cartons of UHT that I have found in every other hotel I have ever stayed in.I have been here on business for a number of weeks and have been made more than welcome. I will be truly sad to leave. I wonder if I will be able to visit for breakfast...
