We (a group of 5) took on the C2C cycle challenge and stayed here on 30.5.2013, our first night. What a great place, the facilities were second to none and the staff, lead by Hazel were fantastic. I can't praise this place enough and would have liked to spend more time there. We paid ¿¿30 each & ¿¿9 for breakfast (which was 'the full English'), great value.

Beautiful B&B located in Greystoke Cumbria. A welcome oasis if you are cycling Coast to Coast.Hazel made us so welcome and nothing too much trouble. Lovely rooms with little luxurious touches such as robes and fresh fruit! A great breakfast to send you off with some of the best porridge I have ever tasted!

...and I'm not JUST talking about the breakfast. Which is certainly a winner...in fact I'm still trying to work out how they managed to get fresh grapes each morning, when most of Cumbria was under three feet of snow! I stayed here first three years ago whilst on the C2C, and have made an annual trip back with my son since. This time we stayed at Stafford House for 4 nights, doing a few bike rides out and about (got advice on the routes from the bloke there...thinks he's called Dave...), and it was absolutely fantastic. The pub down the road (name is something like the 'Heel and Slipper') serves excellent food, and a fine pint. We had a few meals in Penrith just 5 miles away (superb Italian there - GIanni's Ristorante). It really is a brilliant place to stay, and cycle around nearby...we went down to Ullswater one day, and then over to Bassenthwaite and Whinlatter to do the routes in the forest there. We stayed in the top room, and it really was a room of luxury....soft white dressing gowns, fresh fruit each day, and a glorious view. Hazel and Chris in the kitchen turn out a breakfast that my son still drools over, and he's 5000 miles away in California. So...there's only one thing for it...and that's to dig out the calendar, and see if I can fit another week in during June to take my other kids to a very special place.

5 Stars are just not enough for the attention to detail & the quality of service that is provided by Hazel & Ian. I just cannot fault the place. There are 5 star hotels I have stayed in that could learn a lot from Hazel. And as for the breakfast, Cooked as you want it, Perfect!So a Perfect Location, with Perfect Facilities, Perfect Breakfast & Perfect Hosts, Need I say more! My third visit & I will be back :-)

Visited this hotel last year, over a bank holiday weekend.On arrival, we were greeted by the magnificent exterior and gardens of the Folly.The welcome was great, and the top floor bedroom and living area were magnificent.The rooms have been well decorated to match the magnificent building.The local pub recommendation was also much appreciated!And a great breakfast the next morning topped off the stay!We really loved staying somewhere with som much history and detail.Would definitely recommend!
