Rooms are very nicely equipped and decorated, staff is ok depending on who you get. The location is not close to anything so you will need to taxi around, but you can walk to major locations within 30 minutes. rooms very clean, wifi worked well.

The hotel was booked through a travel agent, with certain reservations from us based on trip advisor reviews. We were welcomed by a friendly English speaking receptionist. We introduced ourselves in Italian which seemed to make a difference in attitude from the gentleman behind the desk. We were a party of four adults in 2 rooms which were small comfortable and adequate for our needs, with the size being typical of European standard. The barman, friendly as he was had little idea of how to mix drinks we we found amusing. The breakfast was typical and adequate although make sure you arrive at the dining room early as certain food items disappear quickly.We found the location suitable for our needs with the hotel being within walking distance of the Via Veneto and several good restaurants. We did not encounter any problems walking around at night. It appears that the hotel has had a very recent refurbishment with many of the fixtures and fittings appearing brand new. Be aware that in order to get to reception and the elevator to the rooms, several steps need to be negotiated to arrive at the reception desk. There is not always someone to assist with luggage.We had a slight problem with a shower base that would not drain very quickly, but otherwise a very comfortable and pleasant stay. We would consider staying here again.

Hotel was booked through our travel agent, first impressions are very nice, very roman. We were welcomed by an English speaking receptionist. As the room was booked for 2 Adults and an infant in a cot the room was small and difficult to move around once the the cot was set up. The room was very clean making it pleasant to return to each day. Free WiFi was OK had dropouts and sometimes it wouldn't work. Breakfast was great, a variety of foods made a good start to the day. It's a 10-15 min walk to Termini station with great restaurants in the same street. I would recommend this Hotel.

We stayed at the HPI based on a booking by our local travel agent. We were on a 25th Anniversary Trip and were told by our agent that this was a romantic gem of a hotel, where she frequently booked such guests. Mistake number one... While the HPI was a perfectly adequate, safe, clean hotel. It was hardly romantic, and definitely not a hotel that warranted the fairly steep rates we paid. Other reviews suggested that the staff was not helpful and even rude, and we did not find this to be the case. They were certainly not overly friendly or solicitous, but they certainly were polite and responsive to our questions. All of the desk staff spoke English. We had a very small room, and a quick look at the fire escape chart on our floor showed that the rooms are not uniform, some larger, some smaller. This makes sense as the hotel was clearly built into an existing (and old) structure and the rooms reflect that. We had a "view" of the entrance-way to the hotel, which as others have described is below street level. We had a room with a double bed (two singles attached) on the First Floor (Labeled the "Executive Floor"). The room had an armoire, small desk, and two small bedside stands. No dresser or drawers for clothing. No blanket on the bed. No clock or radio. There was a safe in the armoire. Bathroom was pretty standard European fare, stand up shower, bidet, commode, and single sink. Hand towels are more like American cloth dinner napkins and bath towels are standard, not jumbo size. That is pretty consistent with other trips we have made to various locations in Europe and is mentioned for description, not as a critique. The floors are not carpeted and neither are the hallways. The result is a lovely marble (or marble-like) surface for floors... and lots of echoes and noise. You are at the mercy of your fellow travelers in the evening and we were adjacent to party who had several rooms on our floor and spent a lot of time in the early morning and late evening convening to discuss their plans in the doorways of their rooms. We certainly do not hold the hotel responsible, but understand their is the potential for lots of hallway noise. There was a nice flat screen TV, but no channel guide or directions and the previous guest had set the on screen instructions to Cyrillic. It took a while to figure out. Also, oddly for a hotel that is part of the Clarion chain, there was no hotel service or area guide- listings for local attractions, restaurants, and hotel amenities, etc.Breakfast came with the room and was very nice and offered juices, coffee, tea, meats and cheeses, linzer torte, eggs, breakfast meats, yogurt, fresh fruit and breads. There was plenty and it was fresh and hot. The hotel was close enough to walk to all of the sites we wanted to see, but we are willing to hoof it. We saw the Colosseum, Forum, Crypt of the Cappuchin Monks, among others. We had already toured the Vatican, which might be tough on foot from the HPI. There were several really nice restaurants in the neighborhood- a number of which are highly rated on TA. The hotel had a coffee and alcohol bar, but we never saw it staffed, or anyone making use of it.All in all, an adequate stay. We are unlikely to return however, and if in the area, we will look for a hotel that is a bit more centrally located for the price we paid.

This hotel was excellent, it was around half hour walk to most attractions and Hard Rock cafe is about 10 to 15 min walk away. If you enjoy walking this is the hotel to stay at. The people who run the hotel are always friendly and try their best to help you out. Of course there are people out there who want 20 star everything for 2 star costs and they will always complain. Breakfast was wonderful and the room even though small was great with the balcony it made the room bigger. I would recommend this hotel to one and all.
