A Warm Wolds Welcome!
Honestly, I don't know what some reviewers are moaning about! Live music is confined to weekends (and certainly does not end at 5am! If that was the case, this pub would lose its licence!) As for "noise", it's a working village pub, not a wretched carehome!Pub is 10 minutes walk (with luggage) from the local train station. We found the staff youthful, friendly, efficient and no-nonsense. We were shown in person to our room by a young barmaid who even offered to help with our luggage. We were given a key to the back door (for late night returns). Room was clean and comfortable, had free Wi-Fi, large flatscreen TV, large ensuite bathroom with bath and showerhead, electric radiator, wardrobe and hangers (don't laugh, not always a given - see my Hotel Baltpark review!), a kettle, teabags, coffee sachets and yummy biscuits. The only "disturbance" was the local church bell tolling - a lovely sound and one I mostly slept through. Warning: The included breakfast is enormous! A full carafe of orange juice and, buyer beware, all food items come in pairs - two big sausages, two tomatoes, two pieces of fried bread etc. Choose items with caution! Yes, you have to pre-order, but that is customary in many English pub B&Bs.We also liked that the breakfast was freshly cooked (not microwaved) and that the server kept an eye out but didn't hover over us, waiting to snatch the plates away. The building itself is real "olde worlde". All wooden ceiling beams downstairs. You enter via a passageway. The bar is split (Victorian style) into a public bar at the rear and a lounge/restaurant at the front. Excellent, varied, good priced menu with assorted "Specials" for each day i.e. Steak Night, Curry Night etc. But warning: restaurant does get busy, even early in the week! Our only "complaint" is that food orders must be placed by 8pm, a tad early for us.Overall, a very enjoyable stay, albeit in sad circumstances (a family funeral). And at ¿¿30 a night B&B, we would definitely stay again. Those other negative reviewers can stick to their over-priced and sterile Travel Lodges and Holiday Inns. We prefer Real Yorkshire Hospitality as the personal touch means a lot to us!

Room 2
I stayed at this establishment in Room 2. I had reviewed the negative comments prior to booking. I had a good night's sleep, and a most acceptable breakfast.Found all staff very accomodating.¿¿35.00 for Bed & Breakfast is excellent

Very noisy b&b
I stayed on a Friday night as I was working nearby....big mistake ! Should have booked something further away and better quality. Room ok but bathroom was tired and in need of a refurb, broken bath tiles etc. I had no hot water from the shower so had to have a bath, when I commented the next day the member of bar staff said I should have put it on number 3 and I would get hot water ( there was 1 - 14 numbered on the shower!)....would have been good to tell me this when I checked in and shown to my room. The worst part of my stay was the fact I had about 3 hours sleep...extremely loud music being played downstairs that it made the mugs vibrate on the Worktop !!! They need to advise people when booking that they have loud music playing.Best advice I could give you is DO NOT BOOK THIS B&B....you would be better off sleeping in your car !

A bad experience
I booked a room at this pub/hotel through Hotels.com. I was going to spend the day with my family so I thought as a matter of courtesy I would call in at the hotel in the morning and warn them that I would be late checking in. I knocked at the front door for about ten minutes then walked round the back. The back door was open, the bar was unattended with glasses from the previous night still on tables. There was a general smell of frying and stale beer. I could have stolen anything I liked. I shouted and got no reply. I found a door marked 'Private' and after hammering for ten mintues I finally managed to get a young woman to come down. She said very aggressively, we don't open until 3 pm. it is on the website. I tried to explain that I was not trying to check in, just to let them know I would be late. She was very rude, told me she wasn't feeling well and couldn't do anything for me. I finally got her to call somebody else from up another staircase and I asked the second woman to make a note of my visit. She said she was just the cleaner. I decided that I could not stay at such a badly-run hotel, and asked her to cancel my booking. She said my fee (I had paid in full) could only be returned via my debit card, which I accepted. That was in August and I have still not had it back. Hotels.com keeps telling me they will respond in 72 hours and that they cannot contact the hotel. Apparently, they have never heard of letters and stamps. I stayed with a family member and whilst the room fee was quite small I feel the management of the hotel and the booking agent should have responded in a timely way to my complaint.
