Only a small walk to the nearest tram line and bus stop so very conveniently located. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were given a map on our arrival and they always made time to advise us on the easiest travel routes, places to visit and how to avoid ques etc, they even advised as to what to wear to the Vatican i.e. no open toe shoes or sandals to avoid us having to que and being turned away by the nuns. The only low point for us was the bed in the standard room as it was very small for two people but this is specified on the website however we had no trouble upgrading (only cost 15 euros per night) to a superior room and was definately worth it!! We will definately return to Panama Gardens! Rome is so beautiful!

Panama Garden is a clean and comfortable hotel for visiting Rome.The staff are excellent in terms of advice on the best way into Rome by public transport and happy to advise on the best ways to book into the various sites avoiding the queues as much as possible and even book on-line for you if time is available.The hotel is 5-10 minutes from public transport into the city (20 to 30 minutes by bus or tram) and once there most attractions are within a reasonable walking distance. There are catacombs on the Via Salaria approx. half a mile from the hotel.Three full days are probably adequate to take in most of the sites of Rome although it would be easy to spend 3 days in the various museums and sites of the Vatican alone(Sistine Chapel, Dome of St Peters, St Peters Basilica and numerous museums).The hotel is therefore far enough away to avoid the hassle and noise (and bar prices!) of the city centre but close enough to be accessible.There are a few restaurants nearby serving good quality food and used by locals.It is well worth contacting the hotel before arrival to arrange transfer from the airport - airport taxis will charge ¿¿¿90 against ¿¿¿55 for the hotel organised transfer.

If you like to get a very pleasant stay in a quite location choose this very good **** hotel near Villa Ada park and located on a main street easy to reach ( Via Salaria). it is not really close to center but there is bus stops very close to Hotel. The personnel is very gentle and professional. I got an excellent room 504. Breakfast is complete as italian and international. If you come by car there is a payment garage but it's impossible to park in the surrouds.

The panama garden is a place with a great staff. Clean rooms. Made me feel like I was in my own room in Rome. It's about a ten minutes walk to the trolley # 3 to the Forum, # 9 to St. Peters. If you have the time good food and good prices can be found across the oldest bridge across the Tiber in Rome. You can shop,Eat, drink, it has a wonderful plaza, great for just watching folks .

First impressions of the hotel are that it's in a quiet location that's not too far from all the action. Be prepared to use the public transport or taxi though as it is roughly a 40 min walk to Termini (train station) and a 60 min walk to the Colloseum. The transport isn't bad as long as you know what to expect (do some googling prior to travelling), which leads me onto the rooms. I had read that the hotel rooms were very dainty and small so we weren't too surprised to see just about enough room for the usual amenities. This might have been a shock otherwise. There is also not a lot of room to store cases although this wasn't a problem for my girlfriend and I as we travelled light with 2 hand luggage sized cases. It should be mentioned that despite the limited floor space in the rooms the ceilings are very high which opens the space up and they don't feel stuffy at all considering the size.Our room could perhaps have done with a lick of paint as there were marks on the walls where people had dragged suitcases etc but otherwise the condition of the facilities and accessories were good and the air-con unit was fantastic so no worries for high season. The main reason I picked Panama Garden over other hotels was the reviews on the comfortable beds and I can't say I was disappointed, not sure about the other rooms but ours had a thick pillow and a thin pillow each so nobody can complain. These also felt very perky, almost new. Whether intentional or not I thought this was a very thoughtful feature. Service at the hotel is one of the best I've ever had, in our 3 night stay the room was tended to by a maid every day and April isn't exactly high season so this is promising. The manager was very friendly, accommodating and informative. The receptionists speak very good English which is more than can be said for a lot of shop-keepers and waiters in this area so be prepared to make lots of hand gestures to hack your way through the language barrier. Both receptionists had pre-printed maps for us of both the hotel area, complete with transport instructions, and one of the major attractions in Rome. They were always happy to say hello and help us whenever we needed it. Breakfast wasn't included in our booking but having spoken to some other Brits who did have breakfast they said there was plenty of choice but when you want a nice cooked breakfast musli, croissants and fruit just don't do it for you. On our second day we caught the number 63 bus into the centre of Rome and went to 1 of the 2 Irish bars and had a full 'Irish' breakfast which I can not recommend enough. I dare say better than most I've had in England. Set us up nicely for a day exploring Vatican City (return back to hotel on tram 19 - as directed by the hotel receptionist)To conclude, I wouldn't say this hotel is four star rating due to the dated d¿¿cor but the service maintained throughout our stay was excellent. If we were to return to Rome I would definitely come back to this hotel. Overall I would give this hotel a glowing 8.5/10Many thanks, Adam and Hannah
