4/29 Stay
I stayed for one night at this hotel as part of a package tour. While there was nothing overly great about it, there was nothing horribly poor either. Our room seemed like they were trying to achieve a shabby chic paint job, but in the end it looked just shabby and not chic. The carpet in the hallway on the third floor had a large worn spot. Our room just looked tired. But to be honest, it was very, very clean. Breakfast had more choices than I expected, but I found the breakfast staff to be quite rude. I asked one server for more coffee and she literally waved me off, so I asked another and then a third. Still no coffee. Finally when all my breakfast was gone, the original server returned and offered coffee. I passed. To sum it up, the hotel is mediocre. Don't be fooled by the glistening lobby. It needs quite the sprucing up, and a manners course for the restaurant staff. I wouldn't stay here again.

Gorgeous hotel
Beautiful hotel; as soon as you step inside, a scent of warmth and sea greets you. We were at a jazz festival and kept odd hours, (ie out late and up late in the morning...) so not great for housekeeping. But they were fab. All the staff were very nice and helpful. The room was really delightful and the bed huge and very comfortable. We were more than pleased. One thing to note, I had to buy a sleepy eye mask as there weren't blackout curtains, and the sun woke me shortly after I'd gone to sleep. I know, I shouldn't be out so late, and I should be grateful to see the sun! And the location was really good too. We used to live in London, but I didn't know Great Portland Street very well. It's so easy to get around town from there. Lots of buses through the night, only a short walk to the west end, and a lovely stroll through Regent's Park to Camden. All in all, we had a very, very nice time.

Always return to this hotel when I visit London
I have stayed at this hotel many times. I usually upgrade to a junior suite which is nice and spacious and always stay on the level to enjoy all its wonderful benefits. The hotel is located literally next to Regent's park, is peaceful and the service excellent. The staff is very unobtrusive and professional.

Nice, old School Hotel
Nice quiet hotel with well appointed rooms and a good bar. The staff are friendly and attentive, and while I had a rubbish view out the back the room and bed were very comfortable.I couldn't understand why the guests were primarily Spanish but it turns out this is a SPanish hotel chain.

An average experience
This is the second time I book this hotel for a business meeting (but the first I stay there). Both times the booking process was far from smooth - delays in getting back to my and other delegates, link not working, confirmations not being sent...When I arrived, it took them 25 minutes to check me in because of a 'problem in the system' - which then turned out to be someone's mistake (they checked someone else in under my name). The information on the rooming list I was given was not accurate (when I enquired about it, I was told that my colleague 'just come to reception to change her room', which was not at all true) and I was never given the correct rooming list (that I was promised would be delivered to my room). When I asked to change rooms, I was made to wait 35 minutes in my room because I was told that a porter will bring up the new key (after offering twice to go myself to reception to pick it up, I eventually did it and finally ended up in my room an hour after walking into the hotel).Breakfast was really busy and everyday there was a long line of people waiting to be seated and the gym of the hotel is a bit outdated (the treadmills are really loud!).Staff were trying to be really helpful and they were smiling the whole time (which is surely a plus), but it seemed to me that there was a lack of communication/organisation which resulted in these delays. The rooms (mine and my colleagues) were really small, but clean and functional.I think this hotel would be ok for someone spending the weekend in London, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone on a tight schedule or to a larger group of people traveling together.
