Horrible hotel experience
I am just coming from a two night stay at the Paramount Hotel. After reading many reviews, it seemed like the perfect place for two co- workers and myself to spend a few nights while in town for a convention. The second we checked in, they mentioned the lobby and restaurants would be closed for the next 24 hours for a private event, no big deal. We get to our three rooms and much to our surprise they each have a very distinct unpleasant smell. The first like old dirty gym socks, the second like smoke and the third a horrible damp mildew smell. The third was so bad, my co- worker had a horrible runny nose and headache anytime she was in her room. I can move past a few smells, who is in nyc to sit in a hotel room? well things went from bad to worse. The private event. When entering the hotel on Thursday night we were treated like third class citizens. The girls out front looked down at us with such distaste, I wanted to check out right then and there. We were guided to the makeshift entrance, mind you we were paying customers and hurried into the elevator. Why this hotel would treat its paying guests like third class citizens in beyond me. Not to mention, the music from the event was so loud, our windows were rattling until the wee hours of the morning. What an experience when the hotel you are staying in caters to an exclusive event over paying guests. I will be sure to tell all of my friends what a horrendous experience we had so they never stay at this hotel.

Excellent hotel, close to everything
Me and my friend stayed here for one night and were really impressed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great central location to Times Square. With the bus stops for the hop on hop off bus tours just around the corner. The subway was also close by which was handy. Taxis were available pretty much all the time outside the hotel if you needed to get to the airport, also on check out you can store luggage which was good so your not trailing around with it. I would definitely stay here again, and would recommend this to anyone wanting to stay close to Times Square.

A home from home with an excellent location.
My fourteen year old daughter and I stayed in The Paramount hotel from 3rd to 7th May. We chose it because my husband and I moved to this hotel last October after the hotel in which we had been staying upped their price per night when we found ourselves stranded by hurricane sandy! We found we enjoyed our stay ( four nights) in The Paramount far more! The staff were courteous and friendly at all times. The hotel has since undergone a complete refurbishment of the reception area and looks fantastic. On this my second visit we were initially slightly disappointed with the view from our room and asked could we be moved if another became available. Our room was changed the following day to a lovely room with great views by Yanette at no extra charge. It made my daughter's first trip to the US very memorable. We had wonderful breakfasts in their lovely restaurant which put us right for the rest of the day each morning. The location is perfect, a minutes walk to the centre of Times Square. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough !

Lovely and great location
My boyfriend and I have just returned from a 5 night stay at The Paramount and we really enjoyed our stay.The hotel is literally a one minute walk from Times Square and is within walking distance of restaurant row, hells kitchen, fifth avenue and central park.The hotel itself is lovely. Very modern and (most) of the staff are really friendly and helpful. Our room was very small and the bed is smaller than a UK double but we managed well enough and it is only somewhere to rest your head after a day of sight seeing. The room was exceptionally clean and we were on the 17th floor so we had a lovely view and we weren't affected buy the street noise too much. We had problems with our shower whilst we were there. Our first morning - scorching hot water even on the lowest heat/pressure setting. Second morning - No hot water! Third morning - no water all together! The staff were extremely helpful and a contractor was sent up within half an hour to repair each problem. Finally managed to have a lovely shower on our fourth day. I think we were just unlucky to be honest and I do not believe the shower would be a problem in every room.We paid for WI-FI in our hotel room however there is free WI-FI in the reception area if you only need the internet every now and again.Next to the hotel is a lovely 'take-away' which had the most amazing pizza slices!! They also sell large bottles of water and all at a reasonable price. Across the road is the Marriott Hotel. It has a revolving roof top restaurant where we enjoyed several cocktails and enjoyed the lovely view. I would highly recommend the restaurant but there can be a long que to get in without a dinner reservation. You cannot reserve a place just to enter the drinks lounge so we had a bit of a wait but it was well worth it. All together it was a really lovely hotel and I would recommend the hotel for your New York break!
