Diamond excellence
Jane was great. She helped organise a fabulous diamond wedding celebration at the hotel ... We ate very well, slept well after a convivial drink or two in the bar. Nothing was too much trouble ... We had help with projectors, computers, table setting, decorations and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. All the guests were well catered for and the rooms were comfortable and pleasant.

Barnsdale lodge hotel
During the weekend my wife and I were guests at a wedding held at Barnsdale Lodge. It was a most excellent day. The wedding ceremony was held in the special banqueting suite followed by a Pimms reception in the hotel courtyard. The whole service of drinks and canap¿¿s was excellent. Very attentive staff and they even laid on wonderful sunshine! The wedding breakfast was held in the banqueting suite which all went very well with excellent food, wine and great service by the staff. We stayed the night in the hotel were we stay regularly. My wife and I both said, "If we were to marry again we would not hesitate to use the services of Barnsdale Lodge"! If you want somewhere special to stay then this is the place.

Nice hotel but the restaurant let's it down
The rooms are very nice and spacious with good bathrooms. Everything about the hotel apart form the evening dining is good. The meals are very small and the cuts of meat are not what you expect so watch what you order.

Beautiful location, friendly atmosphere, clunky restaurant service
Very good location to explore all around Rutland Water. Rooms well decorated and extremely comfortable. We had a corner double looking out on the Highland cattle and kitchen garden with Rutland Water just visible on the horizon and it was light, warm and generally a pleasure to inhabit. Reception staff unfailingly welcoming and helpful.Food a bit of a disappointment both evenings we ate in the restaurant, plus over-priced. One highly personable and professional barman apart, the (mostly very young) staff didn't seem to know what they were doing, including which dishes they were delivering. Breakfast low on choice, but the homemade Granola a winner!Might return but would probably eat elsewhere.

Excellent position overlooking Rutland Water, great character with sheltered central courtyardThere for a significant birthday, staff very welcoming, good service in both the conservatory and subsequently a private room on the following evening for a family dinner.Food was fantastic, reasonable menu supplemented by selection of daily specials I am likely to go back and have no hesitation in recommending it.The room was supplied with a tea-pot and cafetiere, better than instant coffee, bathroom a little small but excellent power shower, all in all a great place to relax.
