My place to stop...being a Virgin (hahaha)
Have stayed here many times on my trips to/from WY to CA. If you want the billboard advertised price, don't try for it on Fri & Sat nights. Rooms are clean...outside walk to casino. Have always had better luck at the Eureka casino, across the street. Will stay here again on my next trip.

Quite in satisfactory fora budget price
DW and I, seniors, decided to try Virgin River after reading all the posts on this board. I was concerned that the billboards advertising rooms at $30 (And Up with breakfast) would not be available if we appeared at the desk, so I reserved through one of the travel sites at $39. The VR website was 49 for Mon Tue April 29. Overall, at the price we paid, this is a very satisfactory hotel for our purposes. The drive to Mesquite was about an hour and a half from McCarran Airport. The hotel consists of about eight 2-3 story buildings, all with outside entrances. I believe they do have elevators although we are on the first floor by request. There are two outdoor pools. This is the desert (with cold nights) so the water was too cool for us on April 30 even though the daytime temperature had been 95.The hotel is well under two hours from Zion, and a pretty easy drive. We were able to visit Zion, ride the bus tour, and take a few hikes within a comfortable day trip. Some Mesquite proved to be an excellent place to stay. We were also interested in the casino where we found video poker with decent pay tables. The casino had lots of variety, was somewhat smoky, with good drink service. Strangely, DW and I got zero quads in 3000 hands of double bonus and doubled double bonus five cent VP. VERY STRANGE. Full pay quarters played better..The rooms were very plain, clean, and basically satisfactory. Beds were comfortable, pillows were not. A room service request for an extra pillow was answered promptly. Bathrooms were clean with body shampoo in the shower (no little bottles of shampoo) and tiny bars of soap. No coffee maker. Old style CRT televisions that have A/V inputs so I was able to use a portable DVD player. Television channel selection was okay. No free Wi-Fi, but there was a McDonald's very close by.The casino also had a fairly large bowling alley. We had the prime rib dinner special at the caf¿¿ and it was better than most Las Vegas coffee shops serve. We had one breakfast in the Caf¿¿ which was a bargain, and also had a buffet breakfast across the street at Eureka (very good). Since there is so much to see and do at Zion, we will probably stay again at Virgin River in the future.

Terrible breakfast buffet
We stopped here recently for breakfast on our way from Salt Lake City to southern California. This has to be one of the worst breakfast buffets I've ever had. The food was not even lukewarm, and some items were cold/stale. It was less than $10 per person, but I would NEVER come back here and spend my money - even if it were the last place to eat on earth.

Keep driving...
We were en-route to Salt Lake City from California and decided to stop for the night in Mesquite rather than Las Vegas so that we were a bit closer for the remainder of the drive today. I had never stopped nor stayed in Mesquite before and hopefully won't again. I felt grubby and wanted to shower after our drive but when I went in the bathroom, it was so dirty I preferred NOT to shower. The tub still had hair and something blue in it (maybe someone's soap or shampoo) and dirt everywhere inside and outside of the tub. The filth in the bathroom made me nervous about getting in the bed but I was too tired to care at that point. The front desk staff were unfriendly when we checked in. My boyfriend was gambling and couldn't find a waitress so that he could get a beer. When he finally found one, he ordered but the beer never came. Seriously, don't go here. There's nothing redeeming about it.

Basic motel, nothing more, nothing less
Basic motel room without any amenities or comforts. Fairly clean but somewhat loud. Bring your own shampoo (soap provided but I'd bring your own). Check-in takes place at smoky casino.Tip: Walk across the street for any gaming. The casino is nicer, much less smoky and had a better beer selection.
