Family stay
This was a last minute booking and we feel very pleased. Apartment a reasonable size, main bedroom very good with large wardrobe area. A previous review mentions the bed being uncomfortable and I think the problem is that it's not one bed. It's twin beds pushed together which means you are either miles away from each other or lying on the divide in the middle!! It's the first time I've stayed in an apartment where there is maid service every day which is very efficient and an excellent added bonus. This means clean towels every day if you need them and beds made etc! The pool area is lovely and yes there are a lot of beds but it doesn't seem any more crowded then the beach. The infinity pool and the view from this area are beautiful. The whole hotel is very clean including the pool changing areas. We haven't eaten here so I can't comment on the food but the smoothies, milk shakes and cocktails are delicious! Generally it is a good location with lovely views and pretty central. Taxis are cheap to get around. (Book at reception)!Anfi is well worth a visit too! The beach is beautiful and they have the best shopping area! A final mention to the very helpful reception staff who answered my endless questions.

Lovely Marina Suites
Stayed August 2012. Great experience, room was exceptional. Went with 3 adults + 3 kids aged between 5 months & 69!!! Everyone enjoyed it. Food was lovely, although always seemed like I had to fight behind about 10 kids for any kind of dessert. Breakfast area was lovely & a very enjoyable experience. Pool was lovely but we went main season & unless we lay by the pool from 9 in the morning a sunbed not usually free until about 5 o'clock. Evening entertainment was for the kids, nothing really for adults, that said I had a good time & would recommend. Went on the boat to puerto Morgan, would recommend this trip & the bus to Maspolomas also nice.

Retirement Celebration
This was our first trip to Gran Canaria to celebrate my wifes retirement.We chose this Hotel because of the reviews we saw on Trip Adviser and we were not dissapointed.The Marina Suites is a very nice hotel, the rooms are very spacious,spotlessly clean with excellent views.The staff are all immaculatly dressed ,very helpfull and genuninely friendly.The location of the hotel is also a bonus right on the marina, close to a fantastic little beach and just as important its all on the flat,no hills to climb.We also found 4 excellent restaurants close by,no need to go up to the shopping centre.The was a very good choice for breakfast allthough as with a lot of buffet meals the hot food could have been much hotter.We did find the sun bathing terraces a bit cramped and there was a lot of noise and fumes from the boat yard next door but what a fantastic swimming pool. All in all this is a very good Hotel and would certainly go back.

Very good hotel, especially for the price
The Marina Suites, just next door in Puero Rico to their more expensive cousin the Marina Bay, is a lovely hotel in a good location with lots of positive. Overwhelmigly, though, the best thing I think is the value and this place should be viewed in that context. Puerto Rico is a reasonably nice part of the pure tourist developments on the south coast of Gran Canaria. The Marina Suites are, as the name suggests, built overlooking the marina / docks in Puerto Rico and hence you have to walk around the marina to get to the nice, sandy, man-made beach. The hotel is however overlooking the sea from a rocky coastline and the sun sets looking right into the rooms. You're a few mins walk from a number of different little cafes, bars, shops, and about 10 mins walk from the centre of Puerto Rico resort where there is a hive of shops, bars, mini golf etc. For the price we paid, to have a hotel with rooms this large, with the addition of a small kitchen, a lovely breakfast, a very big infinity pool overlooking the sea, a couple of different bars / restaurants, jacuzzi, table tennis, pool, kids club, etc etc is really excellent value. Is it 5 stars? Of course not. But it is very nice and well equipped. We looked at a number of the comparable standard hotels in Maspalomas and the like, and this was much better value. The little touches here like the soft sofa-type chairs outside, the jacuzzis outside, the sun loungers set to one side amoung the plants all really make this place and should not be undervalued. The obvious "missing part" of this place is some sort of spa. We saw some people doing massages by the pool but thats pretty much it. I think if they had the usual sauna and steam room etc this would be a top hotel.

Marina Suites in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria
We have stayed in the Marina Suites many times in the last few years, both as a couple and with all the family - 3 rooms worth! We go self catering but have always found it very friendly and, on the one occasion when the room was awful (overlooking the noisy air conditioning unit) they were very accomodating about moving us - albeit into a disabled room which was the only one available at the time! We don't tend to use the pool area as we prefer to swim in the sea (from the breakwater) but, for our requirements, have always found all the staff helpful and friendly and ready with an 'Hola!' or 'Buenos dias' (not like darkangel1 - see other review). We especially like the fact that it is a short, and pleasant, walk to the beach area - without any steps!!!If you read one of my previous reviews you will see that my favourite place to stay will always be the 'El Greco' but it still appears that no UK company has taken on the franchise for there since refurbishment.However, in the absence of going there, I would say that Marina Suites comes a close second and we will continue to make that our place to stay for the immediate future.
