About what was expected.....a room and two beds...
We stayed here the night before we were to leave on an Island Windjammer Cruise. Since we arrived so late-11PM- we really only needed a place to sleep since we had been airborne for 9 hours. The great part is the staff, very welcoming, and helpful. There is a restaurant that is kinda connected to the hotel, but it is not owned by the hotel- rather the one beside it is owned and that is Lebanese. There is an invisible line between the two. That you must not cross! The French owner was very kind and informative. We had breakfast at his restaurant. The room was clean enough however, the balcony door was locked shut. The AC unit was on the balcony but for safety reasons the door could not be opened. This made the room rather stuffy....I appreciate an open window even if it is for just a few inches! The linens were clean, the bed spreads very worn and tattered with holes and stains. It obviously is an old hotel and has not been updated in many-a-year. The price was reasonable though I thought for the accommodations it was high. Close to the airport. Many of the stores were closed-Sunday? Off-Season? Like I mentioned, it was for the one night. Since our duffel bags were heavy, we took a cab to the terminal to meet our boat the next day. Towels were worn and thin but work well enough. The TV on the other hand did not work via remote. Limited channels when using side control. Looked like some great bars across the road on Simpson Bay....we were just too, too tired!

Good for a stopover
Let's face it: this is not the place you would want to spend a week's holiday or so. I spend a few nights here during a brief visit and stopover, and it does the job. Rooms are big and clean and have everything you need, including the much needed aircon. It does the job and its central to a few restaurants, pubs and internet cafe if you need it. Some shops nearby and close to airport and beach.

Travel Inn Hotel
The great thing about this hotel is it's proximity to the airport, restaurants and the local bus to downtown Phillipsburg for duty-free shopping. Otherwise, I can't say much more. The room was average at best and everything leaked in the bathroom. Honestly, it was fine considering these were last minute plans, however, I would not want to spend my vacation there. So don't expect a lot - it's fine as a stopover on your way out of the island.

You get what you pay for
We stayed at this hotel on Jan 31, 2013. The room we had was in very rough shape. The bed frame on one of the beds was broken. When I sat on the bed it collapsed. The sheets on the other bed had a stain on it that looked like blood. The shower was probably (maybe) clean but the floor was stained and in need of repair. The curtains on the sliding door were not large enough to cover the window and were missing clips to hold them up. The walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbours and the loud music across the street. The air conditioning was not working. However when we approached the front desk they quickly sent someone up to fix the bed and air conditioning so we found the service was very good.The hotel is very close to shops and good restaurants. The food and service from the restaurant below was excellent. Even though the price was good we would not stay there again. This hotel would not be comparable to a econo lodge in Ontario.

Unethical practices, raves until 4am across the street!
We visited the Island of St Maarten over the week of Jan 6th 2013. We were looking for a last night in Phillipsburg on Saturday to be near the airport for our flight back the next morning. I was traveing with my elderly father and uncle and their partners. They booked our resevations in complete knowledge, and without informing us, of the weekly Rave that takes place accross the street every Friay and Staurday night. They were completely fine with taking 130 US$ from 4 elderly people and me knowing we were not going to be able to sleep until mid-morning! The rave went on until 4am, some people were out of their rooms walking the halls screaming for it to stop. It was so loud it felt like the music was blasting in the room though I had ear plugs in! I coplained the next morning and their excuse was that they have double doors on the semi-patio rooms to help cut the sound (made NO differeence, they barely close at all!) and they said that they didn't know it would last until 4am, some nights it ends at 1am. No attempt to give us a rebate given the fact that we got about 2 hours of sleep. NONE.It is extortion and absolutely unethical business practices, praying on elderly travelers of all things. But, they are all smiles about it... It was a disaster,
