Filthy
I checked in on a Tuesday night. I waa not greeted, the young lady did not offer me the famous cooie. The young lady did not give me any info about the hotel.i did not feel we,come at all. The first room the door was locked from inside and could not get in. They gave me another room. This room had sheets with blood on them. Again the move me to another room. This room the toilet was not clean. Obvisously they dont take pride in cleanliness. I never recieved an apology. I asked to speak with the hotel manager. Nevet got a call. Very disappointed in lack of cleanliness and service.

A new favorite
Wow, what a nice hotel. Let me say it is off the beaten path (i.e. about 10 blocks from River Walk, Alamo, Convention Center, and big downtown hotels. But they have a van that will take you there at will and pick you up when you're ready to return. I didn't discover the van till my last day which turned out great cause I learned to use the buses right on the block (#20 and #79) and the circulator just one block away (two blocks when you return). This hotel is just one block from the Market Square and across the street from the UTSA campus. It is a small hotel (only six floors) with pretty southwestern architecture, very nicely decorated and clean and neat rooms and public areas. None of the crowds and chaos of the larger downtown hotels. Also every person working was friendly and accommodating. I loved the April walk to and from downtown (day time of course) and learning my way to bus around the city. This Doubletree is now my hotel of choice in San Antonio!

Not what you would expect from a Hilton
When we checked in the staff person was rude. I asked a couple of questions (eg. do I need a parking pass? what time does the shuttle run? etc.) and she made me feel like I was bothering her. I was not offered a cookie as advertised but I saw other people who checked in being given cookies. It appears the staff person I dealt with discriminates. Our beds were hard as a rock and we did not sleep well because of this. Our room was reserved for 4 guests and we were given 2 towels each day. We had to ask for more towels each day and one day we were not given any face towels. Common sense dictates 4 guests need 4 towels. I did not like the fact that I had to pay for internet access (over $10 dollars per day). To me this is a major financial drawback and may deter me from staying here again. Get with the program and offer free Wi-Fi. McDonald's offers free Wi-Fi why can't you? The ATM machine was also out of service when we arrived and caused a big inconvenience since the nearest ATM was a distance away. The ATM was fixed but then broke again the next day. Really???

Doubletree San Antonio
It was a good location for the Riverwalk and the Alamo with all day shuttle service. You just needed to call them and they would pick you up, They also left the hotel every hour. The lobby was nice and open, they had computers to use in the lobby, and the hotel room was adequate.

Average hotel in need of care
Hotel shows wear and location is near nothing. No restaurants nearby and a decent walk to the Riverwalk area. Hourly shuttle to Riverwalk. Small pool and work out room. Spend a little more and get closer to the activities.
