Hubby just had a week here with 4 other adults. Would say yes for adults but not too good for children, up a steep hill, so elderly may find it a toil.Could do with providing a bit more in the way of kettle, toaster etc as you have to pay extra for ALL these plus deposit on top..

Location: Close to all amenities, you cannot beat the Blue Sea Kontiki for location in Puerto del Carmen. It is just a stone's throw from the beach/ promenade (down a very steep hill), and approx a 5 minute walk from Biosfera shopping centre, and beyond that the restaurants of the old town. Reception: Contrary to other reviewers' comments, we found reception staff to be courteous, accommodating, and friendly at all times. General amenities: The whole complex is very well maintained and clean. There is one pool (adequate size) which is divided by a fence between the shallow and deep ends. This was cold while we were there, but still pleasant for a dip, very clean, and not over-chlorinated. There were plenty of sun loungers, albeit the pool area was not particularly busy. Depending on the location of your room/ apartment, you may have to contend with several steps within the complex. The piece de resistance for us was the quiet/ relaxing sun terrace with wicker sun-loungers, four-poster beds, couches, etc. Despite being set back from the sea, the steep incline of the terrain meant that, from the sun terrace, it seemed as if there was nothing between us and the sea. Bliss! The apartment: We were very happy with our apartment. It was spacious and we were lucky to get an apartment with a balcony that had a sea view. It was cleaned daily, with towels changed regularly, and we found the cleaners to be very thorough. We had an issue with one light not working on our arrival and this was dealt with immediately once we advised reception - very efficient, so no issues there. There is an extra charge for the TV and safe, and to rent a kettle or toaster. The apartment does include a microwave and cooker rings and plenty of delph, cutlery, and utensils for 2/3 people. There is no air conditioning, though this was not an issue while we were there. Bar/ restaurant: We did not drink in the bar, which generally closed by 10pm at night. We did have drinks and food (from the bar) by the pool. Prices were reasonable and the food was of adequate quality - we mainly had club/ BLT sandwiches and chips.Noise: The main reason why this apartment did not receive 5 stars was the noise element. While our apartment was nicely located within the complex (and had a sea view), it was across the road from a bottle bank (with no apparant limit on "appropriate" times for smashing glass) and above the bar. In general the bar closed at 10pm at the latest (and this was promised to us at reception) but on one night extremely loud festivities (including horrendous karaoke) went on until 1.30am. I complained at reception, but was made to feel that I was of secondary importance to the locals who were having the party (they were not guests of the accommodation). In addition, there is some noise from revellers passing on the roads bordering the apartment complex at night, although this was not particularly bad while we were there. Overall: I would return to the Blue Sea Kontiki as, overall, we had a very pleasant experience. But I would ask for a room that was not near the bar!

We stayed in Kontiki about 7 years ago and had a really good experience. Nice room nice location etc. This time around the room was right beside reception and the bar with loud music from 9am till 10pm at night. asked to be moved and were shown two other dodgy rooms so were told there maybe a better room available two days later. Went back to reception 2 days later to be told that the rooms we were shown were the only ones available. Apparently a German tour operator have all the best rooms reserved in the complex (they've all been upgraded recently) and the poor Irish have to make do with the crap rooms that haven't been updated since we were last there. Staff were unhelpful and rude and we would definitely not return - very dissapointed given original experience.....should have read recent reviews before booking. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Just got back from here and it wasn't as bad as some people made out! We had a two bedroom appartment which was right at the bottom of the hill. Great for the beach, but a lot of stairs to get to the pool...It was clean and the towels were changed every other day. The sheets were supposed to have been changed, but weren't.The kitchen equipment was sparse to say the least and would have expected a kettle, but we made do with a saucepan - I wasn't going to pay to have one! we also managed without the TV as that was extra too...All in all it was 'cheap and cheerful'. The whole place could do with having some money spent on it. The appartment needed some repairs doing (the bathroom light was erratic, for example) and a lick of paint wouldn't go amiss. The sheets needed replacing as some were very threadbare, but clean.Would we go back? No, I'd be inclined to spend a little bit more for a nicer environment, but it wasn't the hell-hole I was expecting after reading some reviews (after we'd booked - rookie mistake!)

We stayed in the Blue Sea at the beginning of March. We had read that it was in a great location but nothing prepared us for just how great it was. We had two apartments and both had balconies at the front and back. They were overlooking the pool and the views of the sea were just incredible. The complex has been undergoing refurbishment and althoug our apartments themselves had yet to be refurbished they were amazing - very clean, great size, we could not fault them. Great value for money but remember to budget in for a safe, tv, kettle, toaster if you want any of these as they are not included but are available to rent from reception. There is a chill out zone that is to die for! Absolutely amazing complex, great pool, great apartments, lovely friendly staff and its right on the main strip so its really convenient to both the new town and the old town. It is on a very very steep hill however (cardiac hill) and not for those with walking problems. This is definitely a fantastic apartment complex, absolutely amazing.
