Nice room
Very nice hostel. Too bad the AC was pretty noisy. I had a great time there. The open bathroom is a good idea when you are sharing your room with yourself, but for honey moon or eraly couple it can broke some part of the mystery. Breakfast was awesome there !

Luxury hotel rooms without the luxury hotel price!
Probably the best located guesthouse/hotel on Kamala beach from the alternatives we saw- right on the beach front and not set back and overlooking the roofs of beach bars and stalls etc like all the others. Walk straight out of the back gate and onto the beach, or out of the front door and into the middle of the bar / restaurants / shopping etc area. Our room (one which had a balcony and also access to an large and beautiful private roof terrace also overlooking the beach) was modern, stylish, spotlessly clean, bright, spaceous and well equipped. It surpassed all expectations and we were genuinely wondering why this place was no more expensive if not cheaper, than all the other better rated hotels in the area (probably because there is no bar or lunch/evening dining facilities so it doest qualify for the extra stars - although there is room service food available all day).Staff were efficient and very friendly although communication was difficult as to be expected as they spoke as much English as I do Thai.Breakfast (included) was perfectly adequate with a decent choice and swift service.All in all a first class and very well run establishment - highly recommended for those after a beach holiday with a reasonable choice of bars and restaurants for the evenings but not too loud / busy.

Very peaceful
We stayed here in this lovely small hotel for a weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The room was spacious and nicely appointed and we had a view of the sea, as promised in the advertising. Breakfast was individually made and, while simple, was delicious. We ordered the previous evening, although we could have ordered a la carte, had we wished. The staff were very pleasant and attentive in all respects. Room facilities were good, with a great spa bath, reasonably comfortable bed and a front balcony (with table and chairs, deck chair and even a hammock!). The free wifi was a bit slower than we would have liked. The pool was lovely. Hotel is right on the beach, which is a pleasant and relaxing change from frantic Patong a fe4w kilometres away. Our Taxi Driver had a little trouble finding the hotel. The Layalina is in a small shopping street with a sprinkling of restaurants and tourist shops.

What a gem!
The entrance from the road would have been a shock however I had read on TA what to expect! The hotel itself is lovely. We stayed in a Heaven Suite so we had our own upstairs terrace with a large sunbed with shade and a shower, which was great. The room itself was large, clean and well equipped. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Since we were arriving late, I emailed them in advance of our trip and they arranged a taxi pick up at Phuket airport for 1000 baht. The included breakfasts were fab, loads of choice and also the option to eat on your balcony. There's also a la carte breakfasts that you can choose from at extra cost which were also excellent.It's a 2 minute walk to get to the beach where there are a variety of restaurants and bars. The best by far for us was the Smile 2, about a 5 minute walk from the hotel over the bridge. We ate and drank there for the last 5 days of our holiday!The hotel is run by Muslims so there is no alcohol. However they are not averse to you bringing your own which you can buy from the 7-11, a 5 minute walk up the road.The swimming pool is good. There aren't many sun loungers around the pool - there isn't room! We used them for a few days with no problem as I think most people go to the beach.A point to note. The TA map shows this hotel to be on the other side of Phuket. The hotel's website will show you the correct location.

First class experience at a small excellently run family hotel right on the beach
Small family run hotel adjacent to the beach. Our Room (No1) was seperated from the warm sea and the safe and quieter southern part of the beach by a pleasant balcony and a small kidney shaped pool. On arrival don't be put off by the entrance to the hotel down a slightly intimidating alleyway in the middle of the 'village'The rooms are clean, spacious and well equipped (including a double jacuzzi bath), having been completely rebuilt after the 2004 Suanami. A basic but adequate breakfast is served by smiling and friendly staff either on your balcony or nearer the path following the high tide mark.The mile long Kamala beach is laid back with plenty of (mostly) unsophisticated bars and eating places to match all tastes and budgets. The beach becomes quieter as the evening approaches although it is not in anyway brash and boisterous during the day. The close proximity of a muslim burial ground backing the northern part of the beach helps keep the atmosphere respectful and slightly reverential. Those who want the noise and bustle of bars,shops and excellent restaurants (there is no bar at the hotel but alcohol is not frowned upon), only have to walk ten metres out of the alley at the front of the hotel, and the brighter lights and excesses of Patong Beach are only 15 minutes away. Despite the close proximity of the 'nightlife' our room was quiet and cool with excellent choices for the use of the efficient but quiet A/C or the large ceiling fan.All in all the best hotel we stopped in during ou 4 week tour of the Far East. We would not hesitate to rebook.
