OK for a few nights
OK for a few nights, staff seem friendly enough whenever I have asked them for something they have been helpful.Its on a company booking and the price was not bad considering its relatively central location, shops close by and mall of emirates is on the doorstep.Plenty of taxis around if you want to go further afield, airport takes 25mins by taxi. I will say the rooms are on the small size so don't arrive expecting a suite.

Good value but poor customer service
We booked a deluxe twin room for 2 nights at this hotel on the internet a good 3 months in advance and paid a non-refundable price. Check-in was a disaster. Firstly, my check in details were muddled with someone elses date of birth and e mail address. Then we were told there werent any twin rooms available. I showed them my confirmation which stated a twin room. The women on reception just shrugged and said they were all fully booked and it had to be a king size. There was no apology, no offer of any compensation, a vague "maybe tomorrow...." As our booking was non refundable I felt we were left with no option so my daughter and I agreed we would share the bed. Lastly there was a mix up over breakfast - they said we hadnt paid for this when our e mail confirmation clearly stated that we had. Eventually, having had breakfast the first morning and been bitterly disappointed at 65AED a time, I asked them to cancel this. If you do visit this Hotel, dont book breakfast - it really is poor quality and grossly overpriced for what you get. The rooms themselves were reasonable value for the price we paid.The bed was big but hard. The room seemed reasonably clean but I'm not sure what was "deluxe" about it. The crockery would have been inadequate had we been using the place for self catering. Views from the window were of another tall building and a building site. The roof top pool although small was clean although there appeared little in the way of refreshment up there.I think overall the reception staff are the main problem in this hotel. Not once did I see a smile from the women there and they did lots of muttering to each whilst booking in and very little explaining and interacting with customers. To be fair, the doormen were much more cheerful. We did visit the much higher quality Armani Hotel whilst in Dubai and I must say they were much more friendly and far less pretentious than those at the Tulip. Someone should tell the female staff that a smile costs nothing.I hope the Golden Tulip group are listening to their customers here. We have stayed in a Golden Tulip hotel before in the Netherlands and have been more than satisfied.I would only recommend this hotel if you want a simple, fairly cheap night in Dubai and you dont care how the staff behave.

Avoid this disgusting hostel
Specifically let's start from the very bad trip that was pretty poorly organized, long wait (which we can not influence).Transfer from the airport to the hotel, waited too long.The hotel itself is in Dubai 4-star hotel, breakfast is a disaster, rooms with a very unpleasant odor, etc..As far as the restaurant that is open 24 hours just to inform you that from 11pm to 08am they only serve sandwiches and 3 types of, breakfast is too crowded, too small restaurant, the food at the buffet was cold, because they probably do not work as heaters should, food items are very poor quality and hardly edible, room service phone does not respond, and what noise from the night club from Groun floor comes, the music is so loud that you can not stand the next hype, the staff at the reception was very unkind, haughty and arrogant that we did not like it even a little bit and give a very bad image of hotels,and as for the famous swimming pool on the roof of a hotel full of antennas was terribly dirty and just kept it there because it was right at the entrance read "NO LIFE GUARD ON tHE POOL "so who would not want to swim there, gentlemen, is one family with children or anyone who does not know how to swim? Directly next to the hotel is a building construction going on and because all the noise manipulation of entire stay we could not sleepOur room was non-smoking but inside he felt a strong smell of cigarettes, but all in all, what more to say, but one very very big disappointment!

Terrible hotel. Definetly not 4 stars!
I highly recommend to stay away of this hotel! There is a disgusting noise from some engines on a lower-floors of the hotel! I was suffering of the noise even at the 5-th floor. This noise torments nearby "Cosmopolitan" hotel as well. Last night I spotted some insects on my pillow!Cleaning service comes at inconvenient time.One week internet access costs >140$. No free internet even at reception.

Fine for a short stay, don't expect to much
The hotel is good located as already said a few times, close to the metro station, only hard to find with a car. Majority of the guests are Russians and need to say, accordingly another comment, that the FO staff is indeed not very friendly. The hotel room is good, bed is good and that was the only thing where it was about for me. The F&B department didn't look interesting enough to try out, while there are so many more nice things to discover in Dubai.A shame was the internet, I think that in 2013 a hotel like this should have free wi-fi, and if it is for a fee, not the crazy high fee what they are asking now.Would recommend it for a short stay, when you only need a bed to sleep in.
