Miramar a 4 star hotel in LLoret de Mar, Costa Brava, sounds great until you arrive !!4 Star this is definetely not, although the rooms were clean nothing else was of the high standard you would expect, no tea & coffee making facilities, no spare blankets or pillows, very poor TV with no remote showing one English channel which was 24 hrs news, no tissues, and the hairdryer would only work for 10 second bursts.We stayed B & B, breakfast was a joke, if you did not go down for it within the first 30 mins it was nearly all gone, very limited choice, from 8 days we only bothered 3 times. The bar was hardly ever open, what the all inclusive guests did I do not know, there was a machine in reception though for soft drinks, but it did not work !!

Very disappointing hotel, my wife and myself stopped here for a week over Christmas, and were very very disappointed overall with the hotel. In fairness you could not complain about the cleanliness all rooms were cleaned with new towels every day, but it was the food and general overall facilities that really let this place down. To call this a 4 star hotel is a joke, the food was very scarce, breakfast if you required this would need to be taken at 8am no later because by 9am there was next to nothing left, all the tables were dirty and used and to find anything appertising was very difficult, we ate breakfast only 3 times in 8 days, and despite being over Christmas we did not even attempt an evening meal. In a 4 star hotel I would expect to find at least would be a working hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, extra blankets, waste bin, decent tv with remote control, and perhaps a box of tissues, and a chair each to avoid sitting on the bed all the time, our room had none of these, although the TV did work, we could only get 1 English channel, which was BBC World News Channel, that is if you could see the TV it was only a 14" screen. A very noisy hotel, due to the bells from not only the town hall at the front, but the parish church bells at the rear, which between them chimed up to 34 times an hour, day and night.Although we did not bother with the bar, it never appeared to be open anyway, we did try to get a soft drink from the machine in reception, but this was not working.One safety aspect that was slightly worrying , just outside our room 209, was a sign for a fire extinguisher with a bracket on the wall but no extinguisher to be seen.Lloret is a great friendly place for a holiday, full of life and history and lovely for coastal walks, but don't stop at the Miramar.

The hotel is rated as 4 star but in truth it's pretty basic and should really be rated as 2/3 star. It has some good facilities - fitness room and a swimming pool. It's in an ideal location for the main amenities - shops, restaurants, attractions and the beach! It's not too close to the clubs which in peak times would probably be a benefit but still within 5 - 10mins. Great balcony vieiws of the beach and along the coastline. The early morning sunsets are picturesque - the beauty of creation! There were a few issues with the heating but these were quickly dealt with by the staff who were friendly and helpful. The ensuite rooms are clean but nothing special. Fresh towels were provided daily. It would have been nice to have had a kettle in the room for making the odd cuppa! Breakfasts were continental. If vegetarian or needing gluten free meals, its best to avoid breakfasts as the meals are predominantly meat based but there is plenty. Having experienced Miramar, we would still stay here again, we're just better informed.

the rooms are basic but if you're just wanting a base then it suits.the rooms are a bit dark but that wasn't a problem.the staff were always friendly and polite,i read some reviews for this hotel after i'd booked and very nearly changed the hotel glad i didn't as i said the rooms aren't brilliant but the staff were lovely.we stayed bed and breakfast and there was always plenty of food even when we went down to breakfast 15 mins before the end of serving.there was hot food,cold food,cereal,yoghurts and fruit,so plenty to choose from.we did hear the church bells but it wasn't that loud and if they bother you just shut your window and turn the air conditioning on.we had our room cleaned every day and fresh towels every day also,i would definately return to this hotel.

Best hotel i have ever stayed at! The staff are the best-really friendly, welcoming people and will help you with anything they can. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a peaceful stay in Lloret de mar!!
