Revolting hotel
Do not even consider staying here.I checked into a room that was so small I seriously could not get a small case and a computer bag in it!! I immediately went to reception to be told that I could be moved to a bigger room but for 1800DKK a night extra - that is ¿¿204 or $315. And that is an extra charge per night! Eventually they managed to find a room which was about 1 square foot larger. It had no air conditioning. Power sockets did not work - no chance of charging any phone or computer. The beds are fine if you are under 5 feet tall and weigh less than 40kg. There is no storage for clothes (even on a 3 night stay it would be nice to hang your suit). The bathroom is minute and antiquated with a step up threshold clearly designed to break your leg - I cannot see that it serves any other purpose. The tiny single towel is really rather sad but I suppose it is OK if you enjoy sandpapering yourself dry after a shower. If you can get the shower to work at more than a gentle dribble - the poor old thing must have had terrible prostate problems.Believe me if I could find anything good to say I would but I cannot. Also I cannot give fewer than one star or I would. Hang on - the wifi is free so that is good - if only I could find a socket to charge my Macbook.

Thin walls!
An elegant hotel with a nice lobby. My room was at the first floor facing the street. It was very noisy and I was also disturbed by people talking outside in the hall. The walls must have been very thin. Except that the room was very nice and the bathroom was nice as well. Flatscreen TV, hair dryer, free wireless internet and minibar in the rooms. Perfect location near Nyhavn and Kongens Nytorv (Str¿¿get). Breakfast was good with a lot of different choices.

Your walk-in closet might be bigger than your room
I've stayed at the Phoenix Copenhagen a few times over the past couple of years on business. Overall, I like the hotel. It's located in a good part of the city, with numerous restaurants and shops in walking distance. It's also within walking distance of the amusement park, Tivoli (though it is not a short walk). I adore the breakfast buffet - it's mostly just the usual stuff with a European spin, but it's always well stocked, fresh, and tasty. My only complaint is that when you book a room you never know what you're going to get. I sometimes end up with a "normal" sized hotel room with a queen bed and sometimes end up with a room that is literally the size of a walk in closet and sports a twin bed. The walk-in closet room is what I ended up with when I was there last week. The bathroom in this super-small room was also very small and had only a curtain around the shower - no bathtub and really no separation (or even room) between the shower and the sink. I know this is not so uncommon in Europe, but if you're from the US it feels odd. The room was adequate for my purposes since I was only going to sleep there, but if you plan to spend any amount of time in the room, it is really too small. The thing is, the kind of room I book doesn't seem to correlate to the type of room I end up with. Maybe this is me just not paying much attention to the details, but even so, it's a bit varied. Bottom line is this - the Phoenix is a decent hotel in a good location, with a great breakfast buffet; just make sure to ask what size room you'll be getting when you book so you won't be disappointed.

Faded old world charm
I stayed here for 10 days, and my experience was pleasant enough. My room was a decent size, comfortable, and clean. All the facilities you would expect were on hand, and the staff are very courteous and helpful, in fact nothing was too much for them. The bed was very comfortable, and the noise levels more than acceptable, even over the weekend when people were passing by outside the room late in the evening. The hotel has a distinct faded old world charm about it, you get the feeling it was once the premier place in the city but has been caught up and overtaken by other establishments. Of the three hotels I've stayed in Copenhagen this is by far and away the nicest.

Danish Delight
I stayed here on a one night business trip in April 2013. I had read a lot of previous reviews before I booked it and was not sure if it was the right thing to do, based on what I was reading. It was the closest hotel to where I wanted to go so in the end I booked it. Arrived there at about eight in evening. Its easy to get to from the airport, just get the metro to Kings Square and its about five miuntes walk. Well situated close to the centre of town. Check in was easy and very pleasent, staff were very helpful and welcomming. I asked for a clothes Iron and tea facilites for the room and both were dropped up to the room by a very pleasent porter who also gave me information about where to go in Copenhagen. As expected, based on previous reviews the room was small but I found it very comfortable. It was clean, comfortable with the facilities you would normally expect. Wifi was easy to use and fast. I had a good nights sleep and found the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was self service and I found it good, there was a mixture of hot and cold foodstuffs with a range of fresh juices. Once again staff were very helpful. I left the hotel about 8am afer asking one of the reception staff to call a taxi. He not only arranged the taxi but came over to tell me when it arrived and then walked out to the taxi with me to make sure that the driver knew where to bring me. He didn't leave until he had spoken with the taxi driver and saw me into the taxi. So over all, yes the room was small but I knew that before I went, it was very comfortable, clean and warm. Staff were lovely and I enjoyed my stay here. Would I stay here again, absolutely and am happy to recommend the hotel and its staff to others
